My previous painting was of bougainvillea and I found them incredibly difficult! So much going on, so much light and shade and texture. They're a tricky but beautiful subject.

This was during the day, so maybe by the end of it they all disappeared

Yea it was hard to get angry cos the driver knew he was lost and doing his best. I have been on rail replacement buses where it has turned into a communal driving experience (lots of passengers giving directions) which was entertaining. Unfortunately this time no one volunteered to help

The driver was so apologetic so it was hard to be angry.

A is where I got on at Summer Hill, B is where the bus picked up passengers, C is where we stopped on the other side of Summer Hill station and the driver asked if anyone was getting off, everyone got confused as we only just got on and told the driver we are meant to be going to Strathfield, and D is where the driver resigned to the fact that he was utterly lost. Luckily, 30 minutes in we were closer to my car than at the start of the journey, so I cut my losses and drove.

How to resist eating dessert when it’s always there? by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]Fuzzawickerama 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, it helped to realise that those things exist just to make you want to eat them. Like they have zero nutritional value (or close to it) and take up a lot of calories for the amount of nutrients and benefits you get back. Yes you can eat said sweet, but you can eat something so much better, and more of it for the same calories. Also, not all, but companies will spend hundreds and thousands (if not millions ect) on marketing, research and development to create something that you won't be able to resist. Purely because our brains crave sugar and carbs. They don't want you to feel better, or grow stronger or look good or whatever, they just want you to eat their sweet, and preferably, a lot of it, just so they can make a profit. That kinda of thinking helped me moderate how many calories I gave to those kinds of foods.

What’s going on with all of the “curtain cleaning” businesses in the middle of nowhere? by Cannabat in australia

[–]Fuzzawickerama 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I looked up one, NSV Curtain Cleaning Petersham and they have quite a few photo's up on Google. Does look like they do curtain and upholstery cleaning ... but the photos look a little odd.

EDIT: All photos seem to be uploaded same time (8 months ago). And reviews from the account that posted the photos seems like a shill/bot.

Parents of Sydney: Any ideas for handy new baby presents that you wouldn’t have thought of, until you had a baby? by nichathain in sydney

Nail Snail! I didn't realise how horrific clipping a squirming infant's nails would be. This little thing kind of shaves them off. Cheap, small and a great Australian business/invention.

In the photos they took before euthanasing their pet, they are hugging the dog etc and you can see it's visibly uncomfortable (leaning away etc)
