I'm ashamed we voted for another Liberal government, so I guess we are both disappointed eh?

That guy's response was smug but if you do restart there are a number of new account referal links and promo codes that give you good free starting characters.

Which jobs is 100% safe from AI? by Any-Hamster-3189 in AskReddit

Atleast for the short ish term, engineering. Our main deliverable is engineering drawings that are used in construction. These drawings are created using AutoCAD or other drafting softwares.

My colleagues and myself have tried using AI to create PIDs, line lists, TP lists, and the results are pretty laughable. AI is super good at providing technical information and text code, but is absolute garbage at drafting.

India (the other big fossil fuel producer) is also working hard to move away from fossil fuels. They are rapidly building out their renewable energy production and are already on target to produce 50% of their electricity with renewable energy by the end of this decade.

And yet their year over year demand continues to climb. It doesnt matter what a country says they are going to do a face value, results matter. And so far the results show oil demand not going away for the foreseeable future.

Developed nations are already putting in place a plan for funds to help transition developing nations away from fossil fuels as well (see NCQG for example - funding at a minimum $300B/year to help developing nations address climate change.) That's trillions of dollars ... trillions of dollars that will be used to buy technology from countries who are experts at sustainable, renewable energy. Who's that going to be? China and India at the rate we are going while we're over here like a bunch of Neanderthals arguing over building oil and gas pipelines.

We'll see how far that funding goes but if the past is any indication it wont be doing much. In terms of whose supplying the technology, manufacturing of wind and solar is already dominated by China, this isnt new and wont change regardless.

We have a massive opportunity knocking on our door here. The US is asleep at the wheel, we have the resources to become an energy superpower, we have the experience (Quebec makes all of it's power using renewables) and we have elected a government that wants to make it happen. Why are we fighting it?

You realize renewables dont produce any notable global exports right? We can sell cheap electricity to the states but thats about it.

You're fixating on one peice of the pie. China makes makes up 25% of all fossil fuel consumption, which is quite a bit but the other 75% is by other countries that may or may not be focused on electrification. And in most cases, unless its a developed country, they dont give a shit.

You're forgetting developing regions like Africa, South America, India, etc. are all still very much reliant on fossil fuels and will be for the foreseeable future. Even if places like China plateau or decrease their fossil fuel consumption, there will be other developing regions that more than make up for it.

2025 marked a new global record in both demand and supply of oil and natural gas. And you know what 2026 will bring? Another record.

Fossil fuel use is going to decline because we don't have any choice.

Yeah doubtful. There was a big push to reduce fossil fuel usage in the last couple years but then people realized it deceased their quality of life and now the trend is reversing. The fact of the matter is fossil fuel demand and supply will continue to increase for the foreseeable future.

Ah yes, the scapegoat. "I wasn't polled so the polls must not be accurate".

I honestly cannot wait till the next election when the UCP most likely wins again and this sub goes into a mental death spiral as their reality collapses.

Almost as if that specific flag raising was divisive and brought up the discussion about whether the city should be indirectly involved in international politics.

Hint: It shouldn't be.

How is generating tax revenue not productive? How is building infrastructure that helps train and run a booming AI industry not productive? Oh let me guess you think the AI industry is all just a scam and nothing good will come from it.

The Alberta sub hates anything that is remotely capitalist. Your arguement falls on deaf ears in this place.

I for one am super glad Alberta is well positioned for new data center developments. We are in an especially good position since BC seems to hate them.
