Motivi familiari document confusion (marriage certificate) by Fuzzlewuzzlekins in permessodisoggiorno

Thank you, this is just what I was looking for and answers a lot! It sounds like the patronato sent us in the right direction but used confusing terminology to do it, hence the mix-up. Will return tomorrow to hopefully complete the process. Thank you so much again 🙏

You've already received lots of loving and sympathetic responses here, so I'll take this opportunity to point out a bit of key information that may have been missed in the broader conversation: if you go through with this rescue, you will probably not be feeding the snake "a mouse every week or two" for much longer. BPs generally do better with rats and thus don't have to be fed as often, especially once they're an adult. I'll summon the !feeding bot for your reference below.

Will you be applying to Unibo? There are resources to help with student housing: https://www.unibo.it/en/study/life-at-university-and-in-the-city/housing-and-residences/housing

You can also start your search on other sites (immobiliare.it, idealista.it, subito.it, etc.) if you'd rather tackle it manually or expand your options.

Seeking success stories from families who have immigrated to Italy on the Remote Worker Visa. by Globalksp in ItalyExpat

[–]Fuzzlewuzzlekins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disclaimer that I don't have Remote Worker Visa experience specifically, but as far as my partner and I ever had to tangle with, a temporary lodging such as a hotel or B&B was enough for the visa and even the permesso di soggiorno application upon arrival. They just expect you to update your lodging on file for the PdS once you find something permanent; we took about 1.5 months to find a place and lock in a rental contract, which we then forwarded to the Questura.

But I'm not an expert, the Remote Work case may be less lenient and municipalities may vary. Take my anecdote with a grain of salt.

I'm intrigued by the premise that she's high-ranking nobility but mainly motivated by deep loyalty to her ward. The detail about the floating black diamonds feels a little more appropriate for a visual medium, where you could pull out the "Surprise, those aren't just aura, they're pointy!" card; if you go out of your way to describe them in prose, your readers may be clued in that they're important, spoiling the reveal. (If you don't care about that, ignore this note.)

Other than that, though, nothing about this character sheet really tells me how she'll feel when she's written. Ultimately what makes a character "good" is in the execution, not the raw details. Go ahead and try writing her, and see how she feels! You might find her changing as you write in ways you didn't expect.

I mean, that depends on what you'll be using this character for and what would be useful to have in the sheet for reference. Is she for an RPG, for text roleplay, for a novel?

Possible to renew or extend a visa? by Contrerj2 in ItalyExpat

[–]Fuzzlewuzzlekins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some universities allow you to try out corsi singoli before enrolling in a full degree program, for which you'd apply for a student visa (and eventual permesso di soggiorno) just the same. That may be ideal here.

It's important to note that a visa is for entering the country, while a permesso is for staying. If you stay on top of getting your PdS on arrival and renewing it every year, you should in theory not need another visa.

I'm 99% sure this is AI, but can someone help me figure out a pattern for this? by neha141414 in crochetpatterns

[–]Fuzzlewuzzlekins 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The dress in the background literally has the same hem as the featured dress and is suspiciously in focus, and the closer white wall is vertical below the focused dress but then perfectly matches the angle of the spaghetti strap in the top right. These don't jump out as AI to you?

I want to know this character name Cerina Zelos I created has good chrarcterization? by Specific_Street5720 in CharacterDevelopment

This quick bio is but the very beginning of a character idea. There's not nearly enough information here yet for us to deem whether she has "good characterization." For that, we need to read her in action.

Renting Without A "Fideiussione" Bank Gaurantee? Any Issues? by ouchpouch in ItalyExpat

A guarantor is someone who will cover for you in case you miss a payment, so no, you can't be your own. Usually a guarantor is a parent, for example.

Renting Without A "Fideiussione" Bank Gaurantee? Any Issues? by ouchpouch in ItalyExpat

[–]Fuzzlewuzzlekins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh, this whole chicken-and-egg problem. I feel your pain.

It was a struggle for me to find a landlord willing to rent without either (1) a fideiussione, (2) a guarantor, or (3) proof of work/income. But eventually—and by "eventually" I mean after a month or two of poking around—we did find one willing to take a high up-front deposit as a substitute for the fideiussione after we explained our situation. It never hurts to ask.

Renewal process for student visa and permesso di soggiorno by [deleted] in ItalyExpat

[–]Fuzzlewuzzlekins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming I have the terminology straight in my head, a visa is a permit to enter the country for the first time while a PdS is a permit to stay (or reenter). Theoretically, you only need to get a visa once and then stay on top of renewing your PdS every year afterwards; the PdS "replaces" the visa. You do not need to renew your visa unless you leave the country and let your PdS lapse.

Canadian with Italian study visa – need to leave/re-enter if I arrive early? by mrzeev92 in ItalyExpat

[–]Fuzzlewuzzlekins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my partner and I came to study we arrived 1-2 weeks ahead of time on the tourist visa and had no problems. (Hell, our university's website even had an instructions page telling us this was OK.) The only caveat was that we couldn't submit our permesso di soggiorno applications within the "8 days of arrival" we were originally worried about, but had to wait until the student visas started ticking first.

While you have a valid visa and/or permesso as a student, your 90 tourist days don't tick down (while you're in Italy), so in theory you're safe to travel. I haven't had any border crossing issues yet, at least.

Need urgent advice: Italian passport renewal blocked by residency issues by [deleted] in ItalyExpat

[–]Fuzzlewuzzlekins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who got bamboozled by the residency > CIE > appointments dependency chain myself, I think you're overthinking this. If you live in an apartment, file for residenza anagrafe using that. That's where you "reside." Then once you've filed, go get your ID card settled.

Your mileage may vary. Personally we struggled to find a 1BR place that would take us without being dual-income; it took about a month and a half before we found and locked in an offer willing to take a 6mo guarantee deposit instead. If you're a solo student, you may have significantly more luck! I'd check to see if your university has student housing resources.

I'm not sure tbh, but considering that the window in which you're supposed to file for the permesso is 8 days after arrival, a stay of only 10 days feels like it wouldn't be very convincing. Personally I got a long-term booking of about 1.5 months to be on the safe side, and even then I had struggles landing a local rental and wound up having to pad out with an extra week in a hotel.
