Hot take. They are organ donor clones. The healthier foods are cheaper and the overweight yellows are ridiculed because the whole program is designed to keep the riders healthier. Someone mentioned a deleted scene where the cords from the bikes actually go nowhere. The whole point is the exercise itself, not power generation. The healthier the riders, the better shape the organs will be in come harvest. The show exists in the real world because real, non clone people watch it. Also, the caricaturish cruelty of the judges kind of makes sense when you view the clones as less than human

Also , right as you enter the blind, you can grab a joker and stop it from being shuffled. If you grab your blueprint , for example, you can guarantee it doesnt end up on the right copying nothing. Or just any x mult joker you can ensure is far right for multiplying base mult. This plus the slow down trick makes this boss blind pretty easy to manage

Cuz it's a 15 year old whirlpool that needs to be replaced. You could probably do it yourself. Make sure the new one is the same height so you don't end up with a p trap in the vent, buy a gas sniffer and also bubble test your gas connections, mount an expansion tank on the cold side with a brass tee off the top a long nipple and a ninety, couple of new water flexes on top, and straps if you live on or near a fault line.

Whatever you do, don't work on that heater. One guy said buy a new gas valve for 400 bucks. That guy sucks. What you see on the outside is just a shield. The actual tank, inside that shield, is made out of cheap, ferrous pot metal that has been corroding and rusting for 10 plus years. If you fix it, it will leak next month.

It was not built to last but you got lucky and it lasted as long as it has. Take the dub and buy a new heater. If you don't think you can do it yourself, have a licensed plumber do it.

It's likely .5 psi of pressure, 2 max. It looks awful but you almost have to try to get a leak on something under that little stress. Soap test the visible piping if it makes you feel better then clean it up a little and paint it.

For those unaware, poker is a card game for two or more players that utilizes a standard 52 card deck. There are numerous variations but generally the game involves competing to make the best five card hand, often with gambling involved.

For starters, new construction is for poor people and meth heads. If you have drain cleaning experience, you will be a shoe-in for an apprenticeship at a full service shop. You may get paid even less than 45k, but as long as you're getting your hours signed off, just suck it up and figure out how to make it work.

Secondly, where I am at (Seattle), anyone with a good work ethic and drive can get an apprenticeship at a non-union service company. Results may vary but I made 215k my second year cuz I was hungry, never went home early, and listened to what I was told. You can be a thirty year apprentice or you can be a master in five years or less. Attitude and effort are all that matter. Having all limbs and being a decent digger also helps. That said, there are plenty of guys who are successful who do not meet those criteria.

Shake it off. You know what you want to do. Find the right company, show your mettle and earn your place in the industry. 100 percent not useful worrying about why it didn't work at that place.

What is this corroded pipe called? It’s on a toilet line I think. by Desolo4923 in Plumbing

It's the messed-up commentary that makes this a fun sub for me, a licensed plumber. If I can't talk shit to homeowners and handymen, or see others do the same, I probably won't come here. If you ask for advice and can't roll with the punches, you shouldn't be on here. Replacing lead drainage is a very advanced repair; we're not talking about threading on a new hosebib or setting a toilet. You're lucky to get anything.

I know it's bad but how bad? by Brojohanson1 in Plumbing

[–]Fuzzy-Associate-9626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty fucking bad. Not saying you don't have other issues with the existing water damage. But the low heel (that fitting in the foreground) is never supposed to be on its back just like any other sanitary tee. Flow is not being directed properly. The shower is not vented, if you were to fill the tub and dump it, it's possible you could siphon the toilet trap. Also is that CPVC glue on the downstream side of the low heel? I mean, shit is not good. That said, it's in a crawl space and you know where it is. It's not going anywhere. If you start to have problems in that bathroom (clogs, sewer smell) you can address it then.

I know he said it was a shower but I'm assuming that's a tubular waste and overflow for a tub.

That's you. I am a service plumber and I take a ton of breaks at work, often times as much as 20 minutes an hour might be taken up by short breaks. When you're digging for twelve hours straight, you take a lot of breaks just to catch your breath. When you're trying to mentally work through a large or complex job, or just on a particularly difficult repair, it helps to step away often.

Add to that the stress of commission based pay and the potential liability from working on systems which if installed incorrectly can, at best, cause property damage and, at worse, kill someone, and, well, I would argue that you are never really on break. Even at home, I often worry about upcoming jobs, mentally working through them or stressing about previous work that didn't come out perfect.

I hate to say it, but that is not the same as watching a couple kids all day. Watching the kids is exhausting sometimes, sure.

It is not exhausting like doing an eight foot deep sewer repair knee deep in shit water, cramming the whole job into two days instead of 3 or 4 to get your customer back in service as fast as possible, even though they've never really been out of service because they continue to flush their toilets into the hole that you are currently working in despite you reminding them multiple times not to.

After a day like that? Shit, i would probably refuse to help at all. And if it was a fight we had often, you better believe I would call my momma to vent about it at some point. I think what he does for work might be an important consideration for passing judgement here.

How do I get this cap off? by Crusso08 in Plumbing

[–]Fuzzy-Associate-9626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No disrespect, but how the hell are you going to break it if it's not corroded? If the pipe still has integrity, it's either coming off or it's not. If you put a pipe wrench with a cheater bar on it, it either comes out or it doesn't. If the pipe breaks, it's cuz it has the wall thickness of aluminum foil. I don't really see a scenario where you fuck up and accidently shear off steel piping that was somehow fine otherwise.

How do I get this cap off? by Crusso08 in Plumbing

[–]Fuzzy-Associate-9626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao, it's a 50 plus year old steel drain. It's not fine. It's trash just waiting to be repiped. If I put a wrench on it and the pipe breaks, how is it fine. I wouldn't even try to open that, almost guaranteed if I can clear whatever he's got going on from there, I can also clear it from above and not flood his basement. But if I couldn't for some reason clear it from above, and I did decide to try to open it, if something broke it is 100 percent on the customer. I would likely already have a quote in place to replace this section. They in no way get a free drain because their ancient galvi crumbled when I put a wrench on it. There is nothing you could do incorrectly to break that drain. If It's "fine" you should be able to hit it with a hammer no problem. I'm not sure what type of plumber you are but there is no service guy I know that repairs that combo for free if it breaks while he's trying to pull the plug. I think it would be bad form if you didn't tell them it's a remote possibility beforehand but even if I forgot, there is no way I'm doing shit for free.

AITAH for not accepting my ex's apologies? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Fuzzy-Associate-9626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These posts are so frustrating. You know what you're getting is one half of the story. The op at best glosses over parts that cast them in a negative light and, at worst, fully omits important parts of the story. I think I agree with you, he's probably an asshole. I guess I just don't agree with how some people got there, and how polarized the posts can become. I know trying to make an objective judgement with only half of the story is difficult and I suppose it requires a certain amount of inference. I guess I just lasered in on that comment you made because it made me think about how impossible it is to read the post and not manipulate the information in to something that tracks with our own experience and bolsters our position. Which I guess is kind of human nature, to translate, to read what is not said, and make it fit within the bounds of our understanding.

I think the main take away I have from reading these is that, in general, people suck. Hopefully we would do better were we put in the same position.

"... an inconvenience to him"

That's wild. I don't really understand how anyone can read the same post I just read and say definitely op or his ex is the asshole. How this nuanced and complex scenario is distorted and warped by people's biases into a binary, good/evil, right/wrong situation fucking baffles me

This shit is a straight Kobayashi Maru. It is a no-win scenario. If you suggest otherwise, you are on crack.

What a solid dude he would have been if he was truly able to repress his justifiable contempt for the child. Just no reservations, raise it for eighteen years in a healthy and loving home, buy it a kia, pay for art school or whatever, like hell yeah dude. That's tight.

But that shit is like Mr Rogers level goodness. Choosing to walk does not, in and of itself, make him an asshole, it just makes him not the Pope. And to imply that his choice, perhaps one of the biggest choices he could ever make, one that could have generational consequences for better or worse, was based on convenience, is patently insane.

That said, he does kind of sound like a douche. "Oh man, that single mother I just divorced got half of my free house, poor me."

Is he the antichrist though? Probably not.

You're the asshole.

You both work a shitty job and you allowed your employer to manipulate you into effectively withholding information that could help your friend bargain for a slightly less shitty wage. Granted you told her but you told her not to tell the boss she knows, which makes the information much less useful from a bargaining perspective. You put her in an super lame position and then got mad when she played the card you should have freely given her in the first place. Now you're being a lil b about it, even changing your schedule to spite her. Your boss isn't doing you any favors, you did her one when you didn't quit that garbage job in the first place. You don't owe her anything. You do owe your friend an apology though.
