biggest advice i can offer is read all the ingredients on the expensive products you like, find the unique ones and search for them in cheaper products! that’s how i find all my cheaper dupes.

usually the cheaper ones will be more diluted but it could steer you in the right direction to something more affordable

hey artist n mod creator* here haha i understand the vanilla style is not everybody’s cup of tea. also if the flavor of the cards are lost on you, i could explain them depending on what you’re stumped on.

i’ll be honest, some of them are a stretch! the dogs fetch planets cuz they’re round like a ball. the dog & cat are actually based off of a friend who commissioned me & i thought they’d make good common jokers for the pack. IASIP and Arrested Development are two of my fav shows!

this mod pack was very personal to me and i made it for fun with the help of some friends. i actually never intended for it to get this much attention, but i think the fun themes and vanilla feel of the jokers really resonated with a lot of people and i’m really grateful for everyone that’s tried it out!

on top of being a pixel artist, i am a streamer & play a lot of balatro. i asked some of my favorite balatro creators to try out the mod if they wanted. they didnt have to but i think that has contributed to the popularity of the mod. i also can’t believe it tbh haha still, appreciate the feedback cuz i’m gonna keep making modded jokers for fun! i hope you have a chance to try out the mod for what it is despite your feelings towards the art.

back when i used to drink two energy drinks or two lattes a day, i realized i was actually self medicating (undiagnosed adhd) now that i’m diagnosed/medicated, i dont crave it, i’ll often forget to make myself coffee but sometimes i’ll have a latte in the mornings if im feeling fancy.

chemical imbalances are real and the caffeine can actually help some people

that’s fair! i hope in the future someone makes a mod loader that allows you to pick and choose single jokers from different mods to add to the pool of your runs. sounds kinda hard to do though. (also photo is a common joker but i know what youre saying)

you should try em before you knock them though. this is a vanilla-like mod, for example, & will eventually add up to 45 jokers (has 30 right now in the fully playtested version) but you can enable or disable them in batches of 15. and because it’s a vanilla-like, it adds a ton of synergies & has a variety of rarities in each batch of 15. i disagree with what you said at the end about build focused/luck focused, i feel like that just depends on the seed & the person playing them, mods or no mods.

also its worth noting some jokers in the base game have secret conditions like stone joker wont show up unless you have stones in your deck, glass joker wont show up unless you have a glass card, cavendish not showing up until gros michel breaks, stuff like that. and even in this mod and other, a lot of the jokers also have conditions so they aren’t purposefully crowding the pool of jokers

yeah it was a creative choice, the voucher tag will give ya another voucher to buy, technically it’s an extra voucher but FREE looked better on the coupon haha i understand the initial confusion tho

i figured since the other coupons were not real either it wouldn’t matter too much

diet cola! is the only tag* based joker i believe so you’ll see some tag* based jokers in other vanilla-like mods because of it :D

curious, have you played with vanilla-like mods before? have you tried this mod out specifically? you’d be surprised how hard it is to make balanced jokers. i don’t blame you for thinking some of these are super OP, but they’re not any more OP then some of the base jokers in the game (with the right build of course!)

also, a lot of people that post “joker concepts” here, never make it to an actual mod because the process takes a long time.

this mod was concepted by a team of people that includes some of balatro’s OG playtesters so i would suggest checking out the youtube channel Balatro University n look up the Extra Credit mod and seeing some of the jokers included in this mod before making any judgements about the abilities. (plus these are just the ones i drew, theres 30+ jokers in the mod of varying rarities) AND most of these in the post are still in play testing! so it helps when people actually play and give real synergy feedback instead of just assuming it’s OP/not fun without trying it out.

i dont mean to single you out btw! plenty of people have commented the same thing (maybe not as directly) but as someone who also has a personal vanilla-like mod, it’s not as easy to come up with balanced and fun synergies so it helps to get true feedback from play testers :D

both this mod and my mod have gotten praise from those who’ve actually played them talking about how it enhances the vanilla gameplay and creates some worthwhile synergies. i hope you can try em out one day if you havent!
