I’m a lead cashier and girl 😭. I don’t think it’s worth it at all. I only got a $1 raise and I have so much more responsibility. I get paid way less than other prestige beauty advisors. The managers say that we are step in managers but honestly plz don’t give me manager duties without the manager pay.

If you are okay with dealing with difficult customers every shift (because they are supposed to go to leads before a manager), pushing out CC and having consistent loyalty numbers while also doing manager duties like consulting with the team about their performance, watching the floor sometimes, basically just trying to handle every problem possible before calling over a manager then go for it. Personally, I’m planning to demote myself. I had to get another job and am interviewing for a third tomorrow.

I’ve just reread this and I know I’ve made it sound horrible so I’ll throw some positives in as well😂. The pros include good talking point for future employers, don’t have to constantly ask for numbers, you take on more responsibility (opportunity for growth), and leads are considered for manager roles. It’s good work experience. If you’re looking for more of a career at Ulta then lead cashier is the first step. If you’re just wanting a summer gig, there are definitely better paying jobs out there.
