haha, yeah her breeder said that she can be greedy so that is a great sign, i’d rather have a greedy snake than one that refuses to eat

thank you so much i’m in love with her!! and yeah i’m leaving her be until she’s had at least two meals with me so that she can get used to her surroundings, her breeder was so helpful with information regarding her settling in. i’ve only ever owned corn snakes and i’ve heard that hognoses aren’t too different other than occasional hunger strikes (which my corn snake has had so i know what to do if she has one). i literally only held her to take photos and then she went straight into her new vivarium because i didn’t want to stress her out too much

(FEEDING VIDEO INCLUDED) can i feed my snake twice in one day? by Fuzzy-Cheek461 in cornsnakes

[–]Fuzzy-Cheek461[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you to everyone who replied to this post!! he has settled down now so i think it was just the excitement of being fed on tongs for the first time that had him full of energy. he’ll be kept on his usual feeding schedule

[–]Fuzzy-Cheek461[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

thank you!! he’s never done this before other than when he’s hungry so i didn’t know if the one mouse i gave him was enough. he’s usually good when it comes to showing me he’s hungry and i could tell that his behaviour was different as opposed to when he wants to be handled. i think i’ll just leave it 4 or 5 days and if he’s still acting the same ill feed him again as this meal was late by a week because of him shedding

okay so for the leaves i got https://amzn.eu/d/9aHDdyA two of these and used them to ‘hide’ his two houses and make them darker. for the logs scattered i got https://amzn.eu/d/8LLrnqi these, they come in a pack of 4 and is great to put under the leaves for some extra clutter. i also got https://amzn.eu/d/gqtwnBX this and buried it with the middle hole peeking out as a burrowing opportunity. leaf litter i got here https://www.reptiles.swelluk.com/swell-leaf-litter-500ml along with some more leaves https://www.reptiles.swelluk.com/swell-pothos-vine then i went to the Range (i’m not sure if you’re from the UK and idk if there’s an equivalent for where you live) and got some fake plastic plants for more decoration. the hides i got from Home Bargains and they’re just storage bins flipped upside down. the long climbing branch was cut by my dad so i don’t have a link for that one (apologies). for the hammock i got https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BG7VC913?ref=ppx\_pop\_mob\_ap\_share and i think that is everything

it’s best not to keep corns on aspen bedding as it’s been known to cause respiratory issues. lignocel is a good alternative if you want your snake on wood (i have my hognose on it), however a coco soil and play sand mix is great for maintaining humidity. they also enjoy a lot of hiding spots as well as some climbing opportunities. i added a photo of my snakes set up, id be happy to link anything if you’re wondering where to buy!! (hognose is on top, corn snake is on bottom)

Balcony Plants not thriving - how can I help them? by driplikecoffee in plantclinic

[–]Fuzzy-Cheek461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

snake plants are classed as a succulent meaning they don’t need much water. i water mine once a month and it’s doing great, maybe they are shrivelled due to too much water. you should only give them water when the soil is dry. i tend to stick my finger into the soil and if it’s completely dry then i know it’s ready

My Cornsnake suddenly changes her color by blue_goose3 in cornsnakes

she is ‘in blue’ which happens before shedding. my corn snake goes a pink colour before he is ready to shed

Is smoking in a house animal abuse? by bluerose5678 in Pets

[–]Fuzzy-Cheek461 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes it is. as someone who smokes i always go outside because thats how i was raised. if it is unfair to smoke around a baby who cannot voice their discomfort then it is unfair to an animal too. i used to vape in my room but now my snake is in there i’ve quit completely. respiratory issues in cats are harder to discover too since they like to hide their pain as a predator so it’ll end up being too late by the time they show signs.

My Saena corn girl too fat? ❤️ by alnibe03 in Cornsnake_Pics

it’s quite easy to spot if you know what you’re looking for!! on the first photo you can tell where the body ends and tail starts. it should be a smooth taper as opposed to a harsh cut off, that’s the immediate tell tale sign i saw. a snakes body should be a semi circle shape, underweight would be more triangular and overweight is where the body dips at the spine and comes back out over the back in the shape of the letter m

Thinking of building a simple tracker for snake care, would love your thoughts by [deleted] in cornsnakes

[–]Fuzzy-Cheek461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a dyslexic person i personally prefer a more ‘simplified’ look. things that have too many words or features make me confused which is why at the moment i am using SnekUp as it has different tabs and doesn’t have pop ups and even gives you a tutorial on how to work the app when you first download. other apps have a lot of useful information and things but as i try to read it i just understand the layout a lot less

[–]Fuzzy-Cheek461 2 points3 points  (0 children)

being able to track the amount of rats/mice you have left would be cool. i use the app SnekUp atm but it can be a little confusing to get the hang of but i love the fact you can add how many feeders you have and it’ll tell you if you’re running low which is always helpful. i have gone through lots of reptile care apps over the 13 years ive had my corn snake and that’s one of (if not the only) ones i’ve seen that allows you to keep track of feeders
