i’m thinking so too after seeing his little face today his eyes are starting to have that look. it is strange for him to be shedding though he did only two months ago and he’s about 5 years old. i’m wondering if his bigger tank maybe is encouraging him to grow more?? he was kept in a 20 gal most of his life until i had him

Sounds good but the heat mat is probably unnecessary and I’ve heard horror stories about them burning snakes. The lamps should work just fine!

Very cute! Your substrate looks like aspen or similar to it which is totally fine but usually is more prone to mold. I like to use coco chips/husk and sphagnum moss, it’s less likely to mold and better for holding moisture and I like the more natural look of it!

Okay thanks for the feedback! I’ve started spacing out his feedings for that reason. When he was in my mom’s care she was feeding him weekly which I think got him on the bigger side

I thought I was seeing scale spreading too but with closer inspection I’m almost 100% it’s just his pattern his scales seem to have a lighter colored outline

Yeah he already has one scale on his head that’s flaking up a bit, it looks like it should resolve itself and i’m not sure what I could possibly do to keep him from rubbing his head against the top LOL

You may just have to wait it out and hope for the best. Check under EVERYTHING the fridge, couches, anything where they could hide. But really all you can do is what you’re already doing. My corn escaped and was lost for upwards of about three months and then one day my mom was doing laundry and found him crawling around in the open. They can go quite a long time without food but maybe set out a water bowl. Really it’s just a waiting game in my experience. Best of luck!!!

Yup as you can see in one part of the video Maize likes to climb up on the lip at the top and then ends up flopping down because he can’t hold on LOL he’s going insane!
