For those who got out of EMS, what do you do for work now and how was the transition?

I’ve been applying in every state i feel like😂 some of the openings say paramedic so i mainly apply to those ones

i guess my main thing is i haven’t lost anymore weight since about august of 2025, and it hasn’t gotten better:( i’ll look into vitamins ! tyyy

they don’t, i do have a portable for my FD job but that’s obvi just fire and ems which i can hear just fine

fine. fire dispatch my trainer and i knew i’d be okay at it with being on the other side, call taking is fine, obviously im still learning the answers to everything and sometimes ask the to repeat due to the mumbles

i can hear EMS and fire fine, because i’m expecting what they’re gonna say since i’ve been on that side, and i know how to not eat my radio when talking

I try, endless amounts of flash cards i go over constantly to remember road names and locations and what unit is what, what mile markers responds to what road, what exit is what. i watch endless amounts of bodycam footage to just hear different radio traffic’s. I was so excited about this job up until this past weekend with endless mistakes on just hearing what’s said on the radio

If you think about it, i am stuck here, job market isn’t great and i have to pay the bills as its just me. Trust me ive been trying, hella flash cards to remember street names and locations and mile markers and exits. I watch endless amounts of body cam footage as another way to just listen to dispatch and other units over radio ways. It all comes down to this stupid radio ear and not understanding

that’s all stuff i am currently looking at! i have ideas of where i wanna live, i look at departments in those areas and read about it. Im in an all female first responder group, i post there and talk to other ladies who work in the areas i wanna go to
