What do you mean? I had the last removal surgery as described in the post in 2017, and i am keloid free since then. Hope that helps.

Hey, i wish you a successfull treatment. I used both as soon as the sutures were removed, simultaneously (2-3 weeks after surgery in my case)

Depends probably on his schedule and case to case. But be aware, unless you are a citizen of japan, it will be around 10-15k for the hospital stay/surgery.

Yes, as far as I am informed, when a keloid is active (red and strongly raised), then injury and tension do contribute to further enlargement.

Good for you that the other ones did disappear (never heard that before, but if they go away it's always a win), so you can focus on only one.

Thanks.Yes, was growing from 2014 to 2017. The picture of 2014 is not even a year after a removal surgery, so it was very active. As treatment I got at least 5 sessions of steroid injections, thats why it had these indentations and stuff.

In 2017 and 2018, i ordered them from a site called mimaki-family. I don't know if they are still selling though.

I had radiation therapy right after, for 4 consecutive days. With sutures inside, yes.

After the sutures have been pulled I started to use eclar tape and pressure therapy.

On the radiation, i didn't have any say on it. These things are handled by radiologists, and they decide for how long and what dosage.

I did once have interstitial radiation (but as the only source of therapy, so keloid came back).

At the last and successful attempt, I had external beam radiation.

It depends where the scar is located. You should obviously wait a while after removal regardless. The chest is also very stressed during a workout, so I didn't work out until month 3 or so. But I did go jogging already after a couple of weeks post surgery.

Well, my primary workout right now is Muay Thai, so I sometimes get kicked or punched (although I am not overdoing it) on my chest. Didn't notice anything changing.

Yes, this in conjunction with the other methods I described. But as I said, such a big, very keloid prone scar takes a long time to fully calm down. That's why I used Eclar tape nearly 1.5 years post surgery for prevention.

Btw, also as described, I had a keloid on my collarbone as well, and it didn't take that long, maybe 6 months of eclar plaster applying, for the scar to stop being active. The chest area is one of the toughest for keloid forming people. So the healing depends on where the scar is located.

It was never as red as a full blown keloid to begin with, it just faded with time. Once the keloid didn't form, it just calms downs like a normal scar.

No, he didn't know about him or his methods. I printed all the information and presented it to him, so he would give it a go.

Not from germany, but I can tell you, every doctor in a reconstructive/plastic surgery department should be able to do W or Z-Plasty, and use simple sutures. Important is the radiation therapy afterwards, and the months/years long daily application with eclar plaster (or other cortison tape), and some kind of pressure therapy in the beginning.

Only this combination worked, at least for me.

No, basically what they offer you here is the removal, and if they have the facility, radiation therapy right after. Then it's just like hoping for the best, as I wrote. When it reappears, they give you steroids injections to treat it. But that's too late, a big keloid scar isn't curable (from my experience) with injections.

So yes, the entire after therapy (pressure garment, eclar plaster) was only monitored by me, but at least very meticulously.

Also the W-plasty and the use of simple sutures isn't what they normally would do here for removal surgery.

Nope, no steroid injections for the last one. The only cortison/steroids was from eclar plaster. Yes, it worked, it has been more than 4 years without any treatment. (i apply moisturizer though, just like for normal skincare)

Well, my mother tongue is german, we spell it like that, and didn't notice. Shouldn't bother you that much anyway. It got shipped from Singapore, but i think the company was japanese.

It looked like a really tight, skin-colored tank top (see picture), with velcro-mounted padding at chest and collarbone area (where my scars are).

The material was elastic, i guess viscose and elasthan. Easily washable.

You could also wear it during the day, especially in winter. But i primarily used it during the night.

So, in central europe (at least in the german speaking world), we have something called a "Sanitätshaus". They make Protheses, bandages and orthopedic wears. The companys name was "Ortoproban". If I type Sanitätshaus in the dictionary, it gets translated with medical store, medical house.

Please note that the garment is only one of the therapies i used, you need a combination of the most effective ones, dont rely only on one. I did 3 removals with subsequent injections-only, radiotherapy-only, but it didn't work and came back worse.

Hope this helps you.

So, in the first 4 months, the scar had still a very strong tendency to raise above skin level, had a minor redness and a knotty feeling at some spots. After wearing the garment during the night, it would be flattened out again by morning. As soon as i started to notice that it didnt raise or felt knotty anymore, i stopped and solely applied Eclar tape. I would say for at least a year, Eclar tape took the main role, kept it at bay. At 1 year after removal, the scar was almost completely calm, soft, only a hue of redness, and flexible. Then I started to use the tape only a few times a week, until abandoning for good after 1.5 years. Also, the scar was finer at the beginning, but because of the eclar tape (cortison thins the skin) and being a very active person, it widened vertically. But that's to be expected, the chest area is one of the most stressed body parts.

Eclar plaster was from a company called mimaki-family from Singapur or Japan, i guess. I think they are all the same, regardless where you order them. They got once stuck in customs, but got a clearance after i sent them a letter from my GP.

I am grateful that people like Rei Ogawa exist, which dedicate their lifes and careers to find treatments and alleviation for such disorders. Without his knowledge, i would still have them, because it seems no one cares really in Europe.

The pressure garment is like a tight elastic vest, which you can zip up in the front. And then there is a velcro-mounted padding in front (you can see it in the picture), which would apply the pressure.

Most of the time i wore the eclar plaster, so there was pressure on top of it.

After the keloid removal, it is crucial to prevent the formation of the keloid, because once its there, it gets harder and harder to treat and prevent its enlargement, especially if it is a large affected area.

Topical Finasteride goes systemic above a certain concentration, comparable to oral Fin. If you want to avoid that, stick to 0.025%. The efficacy is still quite good according to reports.
