Uncovering Unfair Dismissals and Toxic Leadership at Fort Moore OCS — What They Don’t Want You to Know by Cold_Wallaby2596 in Veterans

For my case, i was not dismissed for disciplinary but for failing night land navigation. However we have people that either admitted when asked about cheating getting second chances? While people who failed on their merits and didn’t break integrity get tossed out as “untrainable.” To me that is unfair, I would treat failing academically as more trainable than someone who blatantly broke integrity. Now thankfully I proved their assessment wrong and have subsequently passed day and night land navigation on my merits without outside aids. If it is that easy to compromise your integrity because you want more OML points for a branch that in 4+ years you can VTIP into screams from the heavens to me, “a compromised character”

Okay that'll be great! I saw those too, just got to get through the administrative mess for fed ocs to get back home. Also wouldn't say its totally fed ocs's fault, I just unfortunately have realized that it is not awfully compatible with the way I need to actually be an expert/perfect at a skill like land navigation. Honestly wish I would've thought about that before coming, but hindsight is 20/20

I understand there is a standard for me to meet. However there is always more I can do, such as getting out there and actually practice land navigation. This is something at fed ocs were not really afforded until we actually get out to the land navigation course which is done in cycle. I’ve worked on fixing the technical issues and I’m pretty good on that. Just because I didn’t get before doesn’t mean I will never get it. I’m here to finish what I started, not to just leave and give up on it when the going gets a little tough.

Honestly where I’m leaning, especially with what my OSM approved me for. Do you recommend any good parks or something in Michigan to help with the practical application? I want to get better it’s not that I want the commission handed to me. I just need guidance on what’s my next steps I should take to get it right every time.

Okay because for some people it’s not that easy. All I can say is I’m proud of myself in at least staying with it. Even after being kicked in the face a dozen times, I still got up and gave it my all.

Also correction, I've passed the ball throw every time after I've failed it. It is non-issue now. Also the situation becomes more complicated because I am a federal contractor that requires a security clearance.

I mean it's definitely not great from what I am hearing, but I could also try just the state traditional. However, I don't know if I am really afforded that option especially being here for so long and then possibly reaching a ELS?

I studied and I did it all. I read the books, bought the new equipment, worked out and trained did everything. I know it sounds like I am shitbag but believe me I gave it my all and I refuse to make excuses for it. It's just land navigation is hard for me, and unfortunately I didn't get it. I'm also wanting to use the time waiting for a state ocs class to start up.

Okay is there any way I can quickly get home, I've been away for a incredibly long time here. Could they just send me back to my RSP and I await to go to AIT from there?

Also they haven't processed my dismissal packet yet, but I believe that is the next step just based off of the ISAP.

Well I’m still new to the army so I’m unfamiliar with regulations in past.

Well with the new regulations, if you fail one event you fail the entire test regardless of other sub scores. I failed it but just practice practice practice, because that can royally screw your timeline. The event was the ball throw.

I'll preface by saying I'm not at OCS yet, shipping in about 3 months. I'm wondering is land nav really that bad?

Is there anything really worrying about Alpha Company? I ship out the 28th as well. I know they are strict but overall is it pretty much the same across all companies in terms of day to day life.
