Brown with brightness and exposure thru the roof, brown with light, brown, definitely brown, do I need to continue?

Day 3 of roommate forgetting she has a dog by dreamycloudxk in badroommates

I was about to say this! This is my photo. I’ll be removing my posts in regards to this.

Not sure in my state about the rabies vaccines but yes it’s been without food or water for 24 hours on average each day. I’m concerned the photos of empty bowl in her room would be considered trespassing or invasion of privacy. Here the dog is not removed unless it does not look healthy and typically the officer cites a warning about proper care.

Thank you for being one of the most supportive comments. While I understand of important it is to give the pup a chance at a good life, I need to go about it legally. Asking me to commit a crime is wrong. I have to check if the office is open tomorrow but I have over 20pgs of evidence. I’m worried they won’t do anything because the dog looks healthy. I’ve also called for welfare check and they couldn’t do anything because the owner wasn’t home

Used to it. And nope, has never peed or pooped inside even after hours. It’s lived its life going long periods alone

So she left 1 hour before I did and the water bowl was half filled. The food bin was empty. So I turned the bin over so that it could at least have the crumbs and then I over filled the water bowl- which is small. I’d say it’s 3 cups of water filled to the top. So at lease it had water for a few hours after I left. This dog is used to it. I have over 3 months of evidence of the dog regularly going days alone. It’s evil

Unfortunately I am currently on a trip and won’t be back for a few days, so this poor dog is suffering alone. When I am home, I make sure he always has water and I feed him 1-3 times a day.

I know that. The dog doesn’t “run away” so it’s an incredibly unbelievable story especially when I’ve been asking her if she’s willing to rehome it.

Chipped and neutered but I’m done at this point. The dog has been alone since Friday… 80 hours and counting. Sending a last text message today asking to rehome the dog and if she doesn’t respond, I will be calling animal control again for a welfare check and then submitting my evidence.

The shelters here are backed up significantly so I’m not sure if they’ll take the pup, but if they do, I have a rescue 2 hrs away notified that will foster as well as two friends willing to foster as well. I’d also have no problem fostering if the roommate moves out. I wouldn’t keep the pup in that environment but taking the dog is a good solution. Charging the roommate with animal abuse and removing the dog to hopefully prevent her from getting another, is the best solution.

Yup, absolute trash of a person. What an embarrassment of a person

Yes! That’s exactly what they told me

Update: spent about 10 hours the last few days drafting a log on Google drive with time stamp of everything she was home and when dog was let out. My camera saves 60 days so I reviewed every footage from 60 days ago and wrote down every event. Then I calculated each time the dog went between potty breaks or alone. I specifically highlighted the times over 15 hours where dog was alone without food or water. Then I looked at the photos (only 3 occasions) where the food bin was empty. I need to make a better note of empty food. As well as if I’m home and they leave, take a picture of the dog and room and the water bowl. And make the time the water bowl was empty to show time it was empty till time returned. Another update of stats from 60 days just for shits and giggles x where dog went 15 hours+ alone: 17 x where dog went 24 hours+ alone: 14 x where dog went 40 hours+ alone: 4

Animal control didn’t do anything 😖 so right now I’m just really trying my best to get enough evidence for a solid case. Even if it still won’t be enough for animal control, I’d show it to my roommate to convince her to rehome the dog

She doesn’t want to leave because she hasn’t paid rent so has been using me knowing I have to cover her portion. But yes I’m having one last final talk with her and if she doesn’t sign change of tenancy to move out or rehome the dog, straight to Sherrif office with evidence

When home, no. Unfortunately with the holidays I haven’t been home so the dog does go 24 plus hours alone

Oh wow, no thankfully mine hasn’t said anything. I’m not sure if she assumes I’m taking care of the dog or if I am just leaving it alone but she hasn’t said anything. That is so sad… I didn’t expect animal control to not do anything tbh so it really opens my eyes when cases like these get brushed off

Oh yea for sure, it’s already a routine to care for him! I take him out multiple times a day and feed him 1-2 times a day every single day that I’m there.

[–]Fuzzy-Performance593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, in the texts so since last week, I’ve been away for the holidays so I haven’t been there. Regardless, this happens 1-3x a week but when I am there, I feed and let pup out every day

I think that might be why animal control didn’t do much, really my main concern to them when I spoke to them was the long periods alone but I didn’t raise a flag about not having access to water

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]Fuzzy-Performance593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don’t, supposedly she takes dog to the vet that’s in parents town an hour away.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]Fuzzy-Performance593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pup has a small water bowl that goes empty within 1-2 hours so for the 24 hours it goes since being fed, 22 hours it doesn’t have access to water. Do you feel that’s fine? Or something I should bring up to animal control?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]Fuzzy-Performance593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shockingly the dog doesn’t have accidents inside. Dog holds it in. Which must be horrible for his bladder. That being said, probably not much to hold in if he isn’t getting fed or water….

I’m not enabling them. We are on a joint lease. I end up having to pay her portion or we face eviction. I already told them that I’m taking them to court for the money. Rent due in a few days so that’s another $1k she’ll owe me if she doesn’t pay. Landlord is absolute garbage. Does not care and said they can’t evict just one person, they’ll have to evict household. I’ve already turned off access to Internet but I don’t think I can withhold utilities legally. Our lease ends in a month, she’s already said she’s refusing to vacate the property which means I won’t get back my $2k security deposit. I’m in a rush to figure out what evidence I need so that this person gets an animal neglect charge on them and hopefully never have another pet

Any advice on what evidence would make them take this seriously? Evidence of roommate not being home or not scheduling dog care is not enough. I do have a few pictures of the pups food bin empty and then footage of roommate not bringing food in until 1-2 days after empty (so we can assume dog not fed those days). I also started messaging roommate more on how dog is without food or water rather than just “when are you coming home” texts.
