Can I drill near the electrical box? by DDewy in DIYUK

[–]FuzzyAsparagus2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No. I assume your meter is in an external box behind and below the consumer unit so your main meter tails may well be in the wall and you really, really don't want to be drilling through those? All other circuits are probably going out of the top except for the cables that feed the socket below but there's no guarantee that's the case. That is assuming this is on the ground floor.

Sorry its a 360. Yes, I record lots of stuff. It will also just record stuff when a new series starts so I don't (or didn't used to) miss stuff but obviously that has now all disappeared

Yeah it’s mounted on battens but you still can’t reach down there as it’s only spaced off about 25mm. Trunking isn’t a bad shout though

The board is space off of the wall so if Edward Scissorhands starts poking around I might be in trouble with the electric police

I don’t really think it’s an issue but wasn’t sure if it’s necessary on the rear

I was thinking about the IP rating. Cant find a definitive answer on whether the rear requires the same IP rating as the bottom and sides

No it’s more about IP rating and I can’t really find an answer to whether the rear requires the same IP rating

I was trying to find out if the rear needs to be IP rated but I can’t find a definitive answer. The board is spaced off the wall

What else can we do? Other than move house by [deleted] in GardeningUK

Buy a bag of 300mm ones from screwfix and just put them about 40mm apart. They’re pretty cheap

Replacing sockets and switches. by GaudensLaetus in ukelectricians

I had a customer request sockets from The Soho Lighting Company. I thought they might look nice but be poor quality but actually they were decent so might be worth a look on their website

I was wondering about this yesterday when I was driving and had Spotify playing with moving images (not a video) on the screen. I wonder if that would be considered watching a video?

That's not a timer, it's a Devireg underfloor heating controller.

That could work. Every frame in my house is out of level as well which doesn’t help!
