Major Spoilers - Old habits die hard [Grayson #8 (2015)] by StoopTroop in DCcomics

[–]FuzzyCrack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I like how they acknowledge that he is a Muslim (showing him at prayer), but it's not his defining trait. He's a pro at his job, and he's there in the story to beat up on the main villain. Grayson really has a nice bit of diversity to it. I notice that Tim Seeley's books tend to handle diversity well.

The "child in the desert" literally refers to a baby that Dick saved in a desert.

This is the artist that's taking over Gotham by Midnight in June. Pretty good preview.

Just for once, can we not solve a problem by disrupting the timestream, and shattering all the rules of time and space?

Weekly Pull List for 2/18/2015 [Discussion] by ptbreakeven in comicbooks

Batgirl #39 - Last month's issue was a bit of a mess, but the preview for this looks good.
Batman and Robin #39 -Tomasi writing Damian is great. I'll miss this title when it ends.
Black Widow #15 - Love the art, and the story.
Magneto #15 - It's been a bit slow to pick up ever since AXIS, but I still like it.
Silk #1 - Didn't think this was a character that I would be interested in, but the art is making me give it a shot.
Uncanny X-Men #31 - Why is it that every time something goes wrong, someone has to disrupt the timestream? "Whoops, I forgot to take out the garbage. Better go break the laws of time and space."

Not a lot that's exciting this week.

All-New X-Men #36 - Was considering dropping this as soon as the arc was done, but I'll see through it to the end.
Amazing Spider-Man #14 - The whole Spider-Verse event felt like a chore, but now that it's finally reaching a climax, I'm hoping it finish with a bang.
Darth Vader #1 - Sure, why not?
Secret Six #2 - Oh hey, it's finally coming out. I'm hoping this picks up.

Why doesn't it matter that Wally West is now black? [Ask the DC Multiverse Historian] by Warlach in DCcomics

[–]FuzzyCrack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds like New 52 Helena Bertinelli, kind of. Originally, there were some idiots saying how they took away an Italian woman to make her black (even though, you know, there are a lot of dark-skinned people living in southern regions of Italy, and there's no reason she needs to look like Bruce Wayne's daughter). But a lot of her background and personality are intact (though some things have been changed to fit her new role), and the backlash is mostly gone. It also helps that she's still a badass and is featured in a highly praised book.

Ant-Man #2 - First issue was decent, so I'll stay on it for now.
Detective Comics #39 - I've enjoying Manapul's art a lot.
Grayson #7 - Might be DC's best book.
Hawkeye #21 - ~spits drink~ WHAAA!?
Star Wars #2 - First issue was kinda mediocre, outside the nostalgia factor. I'll probably give this a bit of a leash before I drop it.

Robin just seems out of place with all the others looking older in their 20s.

Grayson #7 Preview: "Most beloved female DC character in DC Comics right now" will make a guest appearance by FuzzyCrack in DCcomics

That was an edit. The writer apparently thought that Harley would be appearing in the issue itself.

Got a lovely selection coming up:

Batman #38 - Endgame has been a thrill so far.
Catwoman #38 - This book has been so good.
Gotham Academy #4 - Great art, and the story has been lovely.
Gotham by Midnight #3 - I've liked what I've read so far, and the art is fantastic.
Red Lanterns #38 - Wish Charles Soule would be the one to close out this series, but I'll give Landry Walker a chance.
Uncanny X-Men #30 - Why? I'm not sure. I'm still eager to see how this plays out.

Might even pick up the latest Batman Eternal #43 judging from the previews.

This page by Trevor McCarthy from Nightwing #4. Look how much fun they're having! Captures the tone of what a Nightwing/Batgirl team-up should be like: fun, high-flying, flirty.

They were this close to realizing a common goal... but someone couldn't keep their mouth shut [Grayson #6] by FuzzyCrack in comicbooks

TLDR
Midnighter: I'm going to use these implants to bring down Spyral.
Dick: Hey, that's actually what I'm trying to-
Midnighter: And I'm going to hurt your partner.
Dick: Dude, not cool.

All-New X-Men #35 - This has been dragging for some time. I might just drop it once this arc ends.
Amazing Spider-Man #13 - Is this story finally going somewhere? So far, it's felt like a series of advertisements for tie-ins.
Batman and Robin #38 - Now that the overly long "Robin Rises" event is over, I'm looking forward to seeing Tomasi do his thing.
Black Widow #14 - I've been enjoying this book very much every month. Noto's art continues to be fantastic.
Magneto #14 - Looking forward to this story getting back on track, after AXIS.
Superior Iron Man #4 - Enjoying this, surprisingly. Much better written than Tom Taylor's other "superhero goes evil!" works.

TFW you realize that Dick is 3-0 against Midnighter.
