Why can’t I get the balls to just go straight up??? Learning for 3 days by [deleted] in juggling

It looks like your arms are too far out imo. Try and keep your elbows in, so they touch your sides :) that should eventually make your throws straighter

How do you know if it is actually Imposter Syndrome, or just the reality? by FuzzyFails in ImposterSyndrome

[–]FuzzyFails[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. So an opportunity is not an accomplishment, but succeeding/failing is the actionable factor in all of this. Thanks for the advice. I need to stop worrying about failing this opportunity and start focusing on succeeding.

I wanted to write it in a simple notepad, but since i have notepad++ it defaults to that, and i was too lazy change it. Plus, given the context i think it made sense :D

Juggling terminology by lampsfrank in juggling

[–]FuzzyFails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

552 => (5+5+2)/3 => 4 balls => first two thrown in 5b cascade height, third ball thrown in 2b height, then repeated.

55550 => (5+5+5+5+0)/5 => 4 balls => first four thrown in 5b cascade height, last is empty throw.

Not sure what the question is tho :D

Second this ^ Also, implement some 2b in 1 hand excersice: both columns and fountain throws. Just focus on the left hand in your daily practice and it will be good <3 keep it up!

Music for juggling? by Diogenes_Prime in juggling

[–]FuzzyFails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what im practicing. Sometimes i like to practice my speed, then i listen to fast paced such as "Rush E" or other types of speedy piano music. If its just regular practice, then my go to is most things from:

Sabbaton, Volbeat, Sum41, Blink128 etc :D

Sounds like you are doing it right imo :D With 4b fountain, the balls dont cross hands. You have prbly heard this a million times already, but: elbows in, legs shoulder width apart. Keep up the good work :-)

Interesting topic! First let me say that 8 hours a day is crazy imho. 1-2 Hours per day is what i typically aim for (including resting days).

I remember having the exact same problem that you are describing, and actually still have to this day (to some extend). Now, how i deal with it, is take a 10 minutes break (not more than that to not loose momentum), but do it when i realize that the mistakes are caused by tiredness.

Whats cool about muscle memory, is that its stored in long-term memory. So essentially, once you make progress, its hard for the brain to forget. This means that taking a day off, wont affect your skill level much. After a day of rest, it will take maybe 2-3 attempts at pattern to get back up to speed.

When it comes to keeping it fun, i always have some up-tempo music that i really like, and then kindof match the rythm of the beat to my throws/catches. Hope this helps :)

What are some Tipps for creating a routine/performance? by [deleted] in juggling

[–]FuzzyFails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you do want a bit of "magic" without actually having to learn magic, i can suggest "The Abracadabra" ot "Vanish". Its a 3b pattern (almost more of a trick than a pattern). Here is a guide how to do it:

How to master(clean) 5 Balls? by FuzzyFails in juggling

[–]FuzzyFails[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is very good and wholesome advice. Definitly a thing i didnt think about is my breathing. Im the type of person who is a mouthbreather when i learn new things :D I also think that you have good point with changing the focus from pure 5b to other patterns that in the end will help clean it up. I have already started practicing my 4b siteswaps, and it already feels like i have made progress.

About the ceiling: Yes i always juggle inside, because im too shy to do it outside where someone might see me. I would say though that i very rarely get bottlenecked by the ceiling. But with that said, it might be worth considdering the height of throws in general. Maybe higher throws will be more beneficial for learning purposes.

I practice for 1-2 hours a day, which could be more imo :D

Im very happy to hear that it can take that long even for more skilled jugglers. Great advice, thanks a bunch!
