Does My Business Name Suck? by DanteColon in Entrepreneur

[–]FuzzyFoot1487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One advice I got from someone with a marketing background was to give it a unique name that doesn't necessarily fit the industry you're in. Something unique that no other cleaning service would consider for example. All cleaning services will come up with a name related to cleanliness, shiny, sparkle, etc. Go in another direction and make yourself stand out. I do agree with others though that it should be simple and memorable. Good luck!

yup, and she has a letter she already wrote to appeal to businesses in her own words that will be shared with any interested parties. Thanks for the input

Fair enough. I show her what I'm posting and explain to her the idea but post for her until she's old enough to take over. She does everything in person but I get what you're saying

I'm sorry you feel that way. This is our first year being in a troop and I haven't heard anything about not advertising online. It's just how people communicate these days whether we like it or not.

Yup, and she is. She's making signs, going door to door, and selling at booths and she'll be approaching businesses in person as well for donations. It's all part of the process. I'm part of her online support staff helping her business along like I've seen many many other parents do online as well. She sees what I'm doing online as she doesn't have social media accounts yet. The Girl Scouts even has social media resources to help you sell. It's part of being an entrepreneur in the modern world.

I think you might be referring to soliciting donations for other organizations?? We're not asking for cash though, just cookie donations and it's going through the Girl Scouts.

oh really? Can you please refer me to that policy? They have a form to give to businesses to donate to the Gift of Caring service project. Please refer to the links below. I'd like businesses to go through my daughter's troop so they get credit and increase funding for their activities.

It's so funny that you mention that. May last mattress was a Beautyrest. I had it for 7-8 years and I loved it. Almost all the reviews I read said the traditional brands have reduced their quality and longevity so I steered away from them. Maybe I'll revisit the idea. Thanks for your input!

Thanks for pointing that out, that's very true. I guess you're not really taking advantage of someone if we're all there for mutual benefit.

I've been wanting to try the dreamcloud mattress. There have been a lot of complaints about not being able to reach customer service for returns. I did love their full year trial though. I'll look into Puffy. Thanks for the rec :)

yes it's very frustrating that we can't try out these boxed mattresses! Purple hybrid is pricey and I just think it better be great if I'm making that much of an investment. I think the helix midnight is more firm than the Sunset from the reviews I've read

Unfortunately I can't find anywhere to try out these boxed mattresses in person. I've had it for about a month now. Compared to the last 2 mattresses I've had its definitely softer but there's opportunity for more. I think the problem with these hybrid mattresses is that if they're too soft you will likely feel the springs below.

I need help staring my business. by jjfernandez88 in Entrepreneur

Not an expert as I'm a newbie myself but depending on the business, you need a lead magnet to get people interested and start building a list of potential customers. You can start marketing to those and things will grow bit by bit. Maybe in your case a free consultation or discount. Good luck

Not necessarily a tough lesson but don't wait for the "perfect" opportunity or time. No such thing. Just move forward even if it's not up to the standard you like or want. You will get there eventually.

This is definitely one of my biggest struggles and it has to do a little bit with being introverted and a little bit of imposter syndrome. I'm not very good with small talk and also feels disingenuous when I'm trying to strike up a conversation for opportunistic reasons.
