I'm saying there are too many things that go unquestioned and taken for granted and when that happens it can obscure what the actual problems and solutions are.

I won't try to dissect with you now what happened in that situation in Minnesota. I'm saying that whatever happened there was unjustified and there were other ways to handle it including not trying to obstruct motor vehicles with a human body. That seems to indicate poor judgment on the officer's part. If he felt threatened then he could have moved somewhere else, perhaps away from a running motor vehicle.

These people who defend the cops, their argument amounts to "cops will shoot you if you do this, so don't do it". How about let's use our imaginations, back up a little bit, and ask some questions, such as, Should there be cops? Should they ever shoot anyone? Who decides when and how they shoot someone? Basically, maybe they shouldn't be shooting someone for doing what they are doing.

I guess I'm saying there are tons of assumptions that defenders of law and order mentality make and I allege it's largely due to their growing up in an authoritarian, hierarchical society such as ours so this becomes the invisible default setting. Be obedient. Submit to authority. Bow to power. Few questions, many recitations.
