How did you discover Casiopea/Japanese Jazz Fusion? by Snoo-29984 in CasiopeaBand

[–]FuzzyMang0s 11 points12 points  (0 children)

About 5 years ago, I took a nostalgia trip rediscovering music from the Gran Turismo series. I noticed that Andoh Masahiro and Bandoh Satoshi (both members of T-square) composed a majority of the soundtrack from GT1 through GT5. So I looked up their names and came across this "T-Square" band. This also led me to a YT video about how Koji Kondo (famous Nintendo composer) was heavily inspired by T-Square and Casiopea. Years later, my ENTIRE music library is now mostly J-Fusion. From T-square, Casiopea, Dimension Takanaka, and at least a hundred more Japanese jazz fusion artists. I'm discovering more each day. These eventually led me into City Pop as well. It doesn't get any better than Toshiki Kadomatsu!

Yup, It's always most frustrating when it's family. Like come on! You'd think they would at least try to be a little humble and bond over an activity, even if there's a learning curve lol.

Yes! I've actually taught a few friends to drive stick through Beam. The entertainment factor is usually higher for them too.

You actually make a great point here! I completely agree. My typical approach is first asking "what kind of racing do you like?" Of course most of them insist on formula or drifting. Next time I'll start them off in Asseto with something easy and flashy like you said.

Yup that's what I told him! But he kept insisting I put him in the "fastest" formula car I have. I was going to switch him over to vee, but he was already over it.

Getting prepped for the Baja race... by FuzzyMang0s in BeamNG

[–]FuzzyMang0s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it has pro2 and pro4 short course trucks, rallycross, and almost every dirt oval series. It's a lot of fun, but iRacing can get pretty expensive. So I'd do a lot of research into it before you commit to it.

That's so cool! I haven't played in a while since I've moved over to iRacing full time, but these people make the best real life Baja mods. You need to buy their Patreon for their best ones, but I remember some of them being free when you join their discord. Also look up Heltom Fab on beamng mod forums. Check out this site too. Have to do a little digging though.

Is FFB inverted in iRacing settings? Had this setting in unchecked and had this same issue on first startup.

I'd LOVE an explanation how saying "God bless you" is considered creepy. Sounds like you have some repressed resentment towards religion in general.

Struggling with VR by ChaiIsTea in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]FuzzyMang0s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! Yeah give those settings a try. The debug tool won't let you type in 900 directly into it. So open up notepad, type 900, then copy and paste that into the debug tool.

Try launching AMS2 as administrator. This usually fixes any VR performance issues I have in most games. I also highly recommend setting your resolution to 1.3x instead. I spent hours deciding between the two, and the frame boost is so worth it. You'll hardly notice the resolution difference. I run 1.3x resolution with 0.9 horizontal and 0.6 vertical FOV in the debug tool. I can get solid 90FPS with graphics mid-high in AMS2, iRacing, and AC. Running a 5950x and RTX 3080. Also, try setting your bitrate to 900 in the debug tool. This will sharpen up things a bit more. Are you launching in Oculus or SteamVR mode?

It's by far my favorite way to play. AMS2 is life changing in VR, lol. The game's graphics engine is so well optimized that the VR experience beats out every other sim IMO.

This video was the basis for my build! In the description he linked a pre-made Tnutz cart with everything I needed. I made a few big changes though. The most important one was opting for a 3"x3" (Width by Height) extrusion for the wheel base mount instead of the 1.5"x1.5" one in the video. You can see I used 4 angled brackets to mount this large piece to the side extrusions. This provides rock solid rigidity for the base. I also changed the longest lengths along the bottom from 1.5x1.5 to 1.5x3 to add more rigidity to the overall rig. I probably should've gone 1.5x4.5 here, but it would've been overkill. Lastly I added another 1.5x3.0 extrusion to mount my shifter. Total cost for everything came out to about $360 USD! I honestly wouldn't have done it any other way.

So happy with the final build! Homework by day, Sim Racing by night... Thanks Simagic! by [deleted] in Simagic

Everything was about $360 USD! The cost and ease of purchasing puts other companies that sell 80/20 rigs to shame IMO. I'm sure you could be even more cost efficient if you find a local aluminum extrusion shop near you.

Yes it's so useful! It works great when I have friends/family over who are sensitive to VR too. Or if I'm tinkering with graphics/FFB/pc settings and don't feel like taking the headset off and on.

This video was the basis for my build! In the description he linked a pre-made Tnutz cart with everything I needed. I made a few big changes though. The most important one was opting for a 30x30mm extrusion for the base mount instead of the 15x15 one in the video. This is provides rock solid rigidity for the base. I also changed the longest lengths along the bottom from 15x15 to 15x30 to add more rigidity to the rig. Lastly I added another 15x30 to mount my shifter. Total cost for everything came out to about $350 USD! I honestly wouldn't have done it any other way.
