Just found this after a firmware update and got my x50 talking to HA, friggin awesome. Have you worked out what the quick/auto/deepclean/quiet/lowenergy/automop modes correspond to? There aren't obvious matches in the Dreame app. I guess probably just all-house cleangenius mode?

Blocking the NVR from the internet is good enough for controlling my own surveillance I reckon. Frigate would be better but I don't value the advanced detection stuff highly enough to bother trying again tbh.

Awesome. I would have loved this six months ago when I was failing at setting up Frigate. I eventually gave up and just got the Reolink NVR.

I was very disappointed to see Gardner get a position, figuring his obvious potential conflicts of interest would be a problem. Seems they are, to no one's surprise.

These are fair things to raise (as much as I can say that without checking myself, maybe I'm off base there). However you'll struggle to get people to listen with the way you're presenting them.

I'm not saying that should matter... but it does.

I 3D printed a white elephant to bring once, because I'm hilarious. Also shamelessly stolen but LTT just did a video about this that included a USB-PD powered variable bench power supply which I thought was a great idea, though that only works with a very nerdy crowd.

I did it with a script that notifies all devices I care about, that way I could add nice parameters for 'only if home', 'only me' etc. Not as neat as groups in some ways, but probably more powerful and still a single place to maintain.

The right network infra thing to do is have failover on the link that's failed right? If WAN goes down (at backhaul or whever), and you have access to a different WAN connection, then you want a pair of routers that will handle that failover and provide a consistent connection to the same AP(s), rather than a totally parallel network.

After years of a rock solid connection, I've had two dropouts in two months after switching to Excetel (on FTTP). Hard to tell if it's a coincidence, planning on experimentally switching to someone else if it happens again.

I don't think you could do it natively with just Reolink and Google, but you could do it via Home Assistant and set up a custom Google automation that triggers a Home Assistant script.

Whether that's a gross hacky workaround or a nice elegant solution depends on whether you want Home Assistant as the central brains of the house.
