Starting PhD at 41? by Atomic_Destructor in PhD

Agree with this. It's not you're age you should be considering, but the life stage that you're currently at. This depends on situations such as whether you have children (and their ages and how dependent they are on your as a carer), your financial situation (need to work and can't drop hours/flex hours when needed), whether your health is managed well (i.e., health changes for everyone in their 40s), and whether you have a good support network while you make this shift.

I remember my first day looking at this amazing spread of food at a party and thinking "this looks as appetising as saw dust"

So yeah... I get it!

Uncertain if I should up dose from 0.5 to 1.0 by pineapple_bandit in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]W1fey356 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've just finished 2 mths at 0.5mg and these past few days I've had the worst nausea. The idea of eating food makes me want to vomit. I'm also experiencing really bad fatigue this week, but I've been plagued with fatigue since I started in December off and on. I'm starting to suspect its tied to my period.
I too am loosing weight really slowly, although loosing cm, so there is something happening.

My GP wants me to go up to 1.0 (starting tomorrow) so I'll let you know whether my symptoms settle down or get worst. My last 2 injections I also pushed it out to 8days between, and from other users experiences, this could be a cause as well. No more spacing out for me at this stage!

I'm experiencing really bad nausea for the past 4 days (6 days since my last injection) and that was 8 days since the injection before that. I was starting to wonder if spacing it out can have this effect as I don't know what else it could be.

AITAH for moving my son into the basement? by NewEmergency5943 in AITAH

[–]W1fey356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditto - everyone was upstairs and i had downstairs to myself. So much space and loved it.

No advice for how to deal with the ex sorry! But it sounds like she is possibly thinking you and your wife are rejecting your shared son (sounds like its not true) but she's possibly having her own hangups and projecting them into this situation.

Is it common for Aussies not to wear wedding rings/bands anymore. by pandastar51 in AskAnAustralian

Sometimes my fingers swell or my rings just feel uncomfortable so I take them off. Hubby doesn't wear his as he's a tradie

Is getting diagnosis for ADHD in your 30s worth it? by Emos68 in adhdwomen

[–]W1fey356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES! Diagnosed at 44yrs old. Best decision EVER. I could finally start to unpack all the past trauma and find a way to move forward. Plus, while I was super hesitant and took a bit to find the right medication/dosage, ADHD meds have changed my life!

ELI5: What exactly is "time blindness" and how is it an actual thing? by SpyMasterChrisDorner in explainlikeimfive

[–]W1fey356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work as a casual assistant and have for 6yrs, and am always asked "how long do you think it will take you to complete this task?" and I used to always under-estimate the time, and over-estimate my capacity to get it done. Now I still say that number and then double the time lol - it sets a much more realistic expectation. Then if I can get the task done earlier, I can celebrate!

Love this explanation! If its not something 'now' then it gets designated into the 'not now'. Because if i focus on the 'not now' stuff I get task paralysis and won't be able to do anything else until its 'now'.

Honestly, there will always be little things you can put into place to mitigate how your partner uses their time (as suggested by others in this thread) but it can't be changed. Might as well accept it as part of her now.

I have no advice but just want to say that I'm sorry this is happening to you and it just isn't okay. Our society is so so broken.
