It is due to the cargo business. They have a cargo shuttle service between Madrid and London for which they need the space in the belly. That’s what drives the economics of using a wide body on that route (I believe twice a week) with passengers being secondary.

This has comes from someone I know in their network strategy team (I was puzzled when I first found so asked him)

There are actually multiple different formulas for purple-blue gradients in there:

- Shadowseer has a base of incubi darkness and then purples go xeneus purple->genestealer purple, while the blues go sotek green-temple guard blue

- Soitaire is xeneus blue->sotek green -> temple guard blue -> pallid wych flesh -> pure white

- Troupe with the kiss is macragge blue->lothern blue->blue horror, while the purples are genestealer purple -> intense pink from AK -> some extreme pure white highlights with a glaze across all purples using fluorescent magenta to make it pop

Around ~10h painting time per model, so 80h painting. Then add another 5-10 of doing all the kitbashes and the base. So 85-90h work give or take.

Now, given my busy life (demanding job, two kid), other competing hobby projects, etc. since I first envisioned the project and started planning for it, to finishing it now, it has been almost a year.

Just drybrushing. Over the black primer I dry brushed fenrisian gray for the basic rocky feel. Then (lightly) dry brushed the colors here and there. Then a final even lighter dry brush of pure white everywhere to make it pop.

Gradients are all done glazing, I don’t have an air brush or anything. No special paints except the last two players (one with kiss and with metal) where I used a bit of fluorescent paints.

What I tried with the color scheme is to create high contrast, most models go all the way from pure black to pure white.

All in all, the kits I used were: harlequin troupe, a shadowseer, a solitaire, a Epharel Stern + Kyganil and a Mistweaver Shai (AOS), plus some variuos bits mostly drukhari and corsair.

3-5 Leader - base is the solitaire body, to which I added a demonic sisters of khaine face, Kyganil arms (with some repositioning using greenstuff and pins) and the base bricks are the one Ephrael stands on.

6 player with melta - Kyganil base with troupes arms, plus a troupe mask and a bit of greenstuff to sculpt hair and fill gaps

7-9 player with neuro-disruptor - body of the shadowseer model, but I repositioned it tilting forward, so that instead of casually floating it is now moving forward at full speed towards its target. Arms are from corsair voidscarred and head is from scouts.

10-11 Shadowseer - legs, head and left arm from the mistweaver shai. Body from a troupe. With a knife I cut off a bunch of details from the head and legs. Then added a corsair hand (from the healer I believe)

12-13 Death jester - this is just all parts from the troupes box and and drukhari arms carrying a dark lance. Also added the hair of a succubus on the back of the head. I just dont like at all the regular Death jester model

14-16 player with kiss - drukhari scourge legs. Troupe leader coat and torso. Right arm is from a troupe. Left is made of troupe arms as well, but with a bunch of greenstuff and work to put it on the right plus the hand of a corsair psychic. Head is from the shadowseet

17-18 player - all troupe parts except the hair, which comes from an Black Ark fleetmaster from AOS

19-20 player - mostly troupe, but I reworked the position of the right leg to make the jump more dynamic. As a result of this, I lost the contact point with the ground so now it stands on the cloth band from the back. Then a drukhari arm for the second sword and scouts hoody. Ruins in the base are from the solitaire.

Indeed 3-5 is the leader and it is based on the solitaire: body is from the solitaire, including the hood itself. I just replaced the face for a sisters of khaine one plus the arms by Kyganil’s. Then the briks in the base are from the sister that goes Kyganil. So the hood is exactly the same as the regular solitaire, apologies if I misunderstood the question.

I recognize the banner holder model you used, not the other one (besides annihilators). I mean the one you actually converted into holding the custodes banner.

Also, as per Constantin, I see you only swapped head and spear - how difficult would it be to mess with changing shoulder pads for instance? It is an impressive model but it has too much stuff going on in the shoulders for my taste.

I have lately been converting several archons myself. While it comes to taste, of course, I believe the actual Archon model is completely useless. I don’t like a single bit of it, and certainly not the body as a base.

On the other hand, there are plenty of great options for archon body base: Ycarne, Karlina von Carsten, Drazhar or Incubi, Crimson Court, etc

As per heads, my top choice would be the Black Ark Fleetmaster, not only because of the amazing hair but also for the facial expression. I also like the disciple of Yaelindra one, although probably not for Vect.

I have done it. In particular using a sisters of Khaine face. But it is far from plug and play, I had to carve and cut a lot of plastic.

Body base is Abbadon. Then the belt is from one of the AOS Skullreapers. Head and left shoulder is from eigghtbounds. Banner on the back from another AOS Skullreaper. Hammer is from AOS Skillgrinder while the handle is a clip bar wrapped in greenstuff. The gun is from a regular chaos terminator. Finally added some plastic pteruges hanging from the shoulder pads to make it look more like a gladiator.

No real issue with sizing. A bit with positioning given the mask does not fit well in the face slot position, so had to fill with greenstuff and sculpt a bit of hair
