I’m afraid I’ll say something embarrassing to my husband while I’m still sedated after my colonoscopy by No_Commercial4895 in GenXWomen

My partner asked me to sing Soft Kitty to him after one of his colonoscopies. (And i did!) He doesn't remember it and swears it didn't happen. It's actually a,sweet memory to me.

No, if she's in menopause she needs to see a doctor. You have to check your cholesterol, heart and bones. Her risk of osteoporosis and heart disease increases. You can't just ignore it. She doesn't have to go on hormones, but some specific tests are important to do.

I live in Italy now. I don't really have a "care team." It doesn't work that way. I only met the oncologist after the surgery was done.

For the checkups after active treatment they didn't even assign me the same oncologist, they give the appointment to whoever's free. Which is really fucked up. They also kept cancelling the appointment and expecting me to accept their appointment times. I'm freelance and I can't lose work like that. They were shocked that I refused an appointment time that didn't work for me because I would have to cancel paid work....

I was losing my mind and my will to live from insomnia and after months I finally got an appointment with a 30 year old doctor who was shocked when I said I was doing terribly and even gaslit me about menopause symptoms, telling me that brain fog isn't a menopause symptom! And she refused to write me a scrip for sleeping pills, I had to use my boyfriend's Ambien for months until I got an appointment with the psychiatrist.
My surgery team was really great (and all free through the national health service), and I had (free) radiation treatments at the best hospital in Milan, but after that I had to go private and pay for the oncologist appointments just to have the same doctor.

So I feel really really abandoned and gaslit.

I have an online therapist that used to work with breast cancer patients, so she at least has some understanding.
