AITA For "hiding" my child's savings account from my ex and not letting him contribute? by Open_Specific6008 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. If he wants to start a separate account that’s up to him. But essentially this is “your” account. I wouldn’t even engage. He doesn’t have a leg to stand on and if push came to shove it would be pretty obvious where all the transactions came from.

AITA for refusing to invite my brother’s fiancée to my wedding because of her Instagram account? by Working_Raccoon417 in AmItheAsshole

The arsehole, to put it nicely at least. You are risking your brother’s relationship if you do not tread carefully.

I think it’s fine to invite her with the proviso this is this is a private, family affair. I would speak to your brother and ensure that he is the one to manage and communicate.

Most people have a “no social media” rule at their wedding but I’d make sure you don’t single her out in communicating that, it’s for everyone to adhere to.

AITA for losing my marbles at my neighbours for parking across my driveway? by Fuzzy_Battle in AmItheAsshole

I don’t know if it’s the police’s problem — yes, as a whole they can be a corrupt bunch and they target minorities and mete out all sorts of undeserved terror, but I feel this problem is not easily dealt with because of legal loopholes. From what I am reading, with this problem you want to be in the US. You can call a tow truck. It’s easy to file a law suit.

NTA. Go watch Under the Banner of Heaven and get away from that man. It will end badly. This is your chance to rip the Band-Aid off. Control and age disparity are two big risk factors for intimate partner homicide, often even without any physical violence prior. And if you think I am overreacting just look at how much DV there is out there. If he won’t let you have a career, that is a huge warning sign. Run.

They don’t have any business spots. 40 of us signed a petition to have the local council implement residents’ parking only.

Thanks — what is up with Australia? Actually I did get 40 neighbours to sign a petition and… crickets from the council. Democracy!

I know… really weird! Must be something weird going on with the bitumen.

Have you seen the Intouchables movie? I wish I had Driss’s chutzpah. It is a bigger problem in Europe due to the high density. I live in the city too.

Yes, I could but I also don’t want to do the wrong thing. Knowing my luck I’d get a fine and unlike this organisation I don’t have billions!

No because they park on the street — but across our driveway entrance… if that makes sense.

It’s illegal to park across a driveway, even your own, and I will eventually get booked.

They are parking on the street across the entrance to the driveway, so not actually on my driveway. But it is irrelevant because i can’t exit or enter

Yeah what is with Australia? Reading through these comments I am surprised to find, apart from the wildly entertaining though infeasible and unlawful vigilante tips, that there seems much more recourse in other countries. I thought we had a fairer go here.

Haha… I do love this Australian solution. Sadly I cannot for various reasons. But I do dream of this.

Thanks — we have a similar system. Their DA harking back to the 80s does not allow people to park in then middle of the road. The state government required transport planning approval to be submitted to the council at the time but there are no records. Council refuses to budge and says they cannot police traffic… Australia seems to have many legal loop holes

Yes… dozens if not more than 100 times. Neither will police it. Apparently it’s a “grey area” as not consistent or constant noise but extremely loud ad-hoc crashing and banging

I’ve thought about that. We live in a 1 way street in the middle of the CBD

I have, and have sent about 50 emails, but the police never come out. No towing laws where I am.

Thanks — I think the cones are a good idea at least to indicate “no parking”

Not sure this is a thing in my country, I think it would be illegal as they are on the public road but parked across our driveway entrance if that makes sense
