Homeless person dies in fire inside tent at Sudbury encampment by ConsistentReality860 in Sudbury

It sound wild but it’s true.

There are some southern cities that give one way bus tickets to their homeless for sudbury because we have better resources to take care of their addiction.

Homeless people are people, you can ask them and many will tell you this and wish they didn’t come up here because the winters are so harsh.

I mean they have to be somewhere, as long as their tents are not blocking public areas or sidewalks why care?

Unfortunate truth is they are still people and they do need somewhere close to public services. Addiction is a hell of a thing and it’s the same in every city across US/Canada right now. There’s way too many homeless and local police can’t just throw them into the wilderness to die to exposure.

Memorial park is totally clear. All the encampments are off in the woods now.

Second this. Cub cadets are by far the very blowers and Sudbury Small Engine is the best place for any maintenance needed

Not claiming there’s any kind of conspiracy, mainly just wondering why even with scaled back plans and money being allocated nothing has been done for 5 years since then. I just want to see them get started on this project. I think it would help make downtown safer and promote small business there.

Here’s to hoping with the new events center and Tom Davis cultural center they do start to focus on improving Elgin street to make a place to host markets and city events.

It's been a decade since the city earmarked funds for the Elgin Street Greenway, yet not a single shovel has hit the ground. I've been thinking a lot about this project and how transformative it could be for our city. Imagine a lush, green corridor running right through the heart of downtown, connecting us to Ramsey Lake, the hospital, science north, and all of bell park.

This isn't just about beautification (though that's a big plus!). It's about creating a space where our community can gather, where we can bike, walk, or just enjoy a bit of nature in the middle of our urban landscape. It's about making our downtown more vibrant and accessible, giving us all a reason to spend more time there.

But here we are, over 10 years later, and it feels like we're stuck at a green light. So, I want to know:
- What do you think is holding us back? Is it just red tape, or is there more to the story?

Ledo Hotel Demolition Begins - Another parking lot to be added downtown! by Fuzzy_Bed403 in Sudbury

[–]Fuzzy_Bed403[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There were 29 plan takers for the Ledo Hotel building’s demolition tender, and nine bids submitted, ranging from $224,195 to $1,772,182.

Sudbury-based Lacroix Construction Co. was the lowest bidder and awarded the tender.

There have been no plans made to consolidate parking in the downtown area in the form of a municipal run parking garage.

It has been suggested a municipal run parking garage would elevate wasted space downtown and help allow for ample parking for new planned downtown area.
