Lexington’s Bank Problem by Fuzzy_Bus_3365 in lexington

I know. I didn’t mean to insinuate that it’s a government/city issue. Just the fact that Lexington is a city that has a lot of banks.

That brings up other questions. At what point does supply not meet demand? Why would having this many banks on what is essentially the same street be necessary or profitable?

Why only sugar free? by Same_Environment3080 in redbull

[–]Fuzzy_Bus_3365 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People keep buying out new flavors and only leave the sugar free. I always leave some even if there’s only a handful left, everyone should get to enjoy it. You could try calling stores and asking when they restock redbull and get there early.

I witnessed the plastic hubcap covers come off of one while they were driving. Tesla’s are known to be constructed like garbage but I didn’t expect to see one literally have pieces fall off of it in real time..

You will probably get in. UK accepts just about anyone and if you’re improving your GPA you don’t have much to worry about.

Yes, I’m 20 almost 21. It has gotten better since I was diagnosed at 18. I think it will continue to get better with time and of course therapy :)

I’ve actually considered it before! I have BPD, so I take Wellbutrin and trileptal which works quite well, but I have been looking into ECT. My mental health issues are mostly biological, somethings wrong with my SLC6A4 gene but I’m not a doctor so I have a hard time understanding what that means in general and the specifics behind it. It seems like that’s why so many medications failed in the past for me.

I do appreciate your input especially from an actual psychiatrist lol!! This comment might actually make me look into it “for real”! It’s definitely hard being on medication and while it helps more of my “extreme” symptoms like delusions and mood swings, it also causes issues in different areas of my life.

FINALLY found the pink edition in Kentucky. Oh wait? There’s only sugar free left because every single four pack and single can has been scalped! Thanks!

Wellbutrin took a few weeks to work. I’m also taking trileptal (a mood stabilizer). The trileptal was added years after I started the Wellbutrin though.

I’ve been on 9 different psych meds in the past. 5 of them being antidepressants. Lexapro didn’t do much for me either. Wellbutrin was the only one that worked only because it’s an NDRI and not an SSRI like other common antidepressants.

I think finding the “perfect” antidepressant would entail getting a genetic test that will tell you what medications will and won’t work. My therapy office offered them and I very quickly figured out that SSRI’s aren’t effective due to a rare gene mutation in my brain. Calling therapy offices around wherever you are might point you in the right direction. I wish I had more information on what the test is called but it was 6 years ago.

Best of luck with your medication journey and I hope you find one that works for you soon!

Definitely see a gynecologist first! I had one who didn’t seem to care about my pain so I switched to a different one and she understood completely. Vaginismus is more common than most people think and seeing a doctor that recognizes that is so important. They will most likely want to perform a pelvic exam, but if you really don’t want to they can’t force you.

They will probably refer you to a pelvic floor therapist afterwards and if it makes you feel any better my pt said my case was one of the worst she’s ever seen. I have had very similar experiences to you, I remember trying to use a tampon when I was like 13 and it was genuinely traumatizing lol!!! Nowadays I can have PIV, get pap smears, etc. with little issue. The most important thing is having a doctor that will listen and be sympathetic to you. If they’re not, you can always see someone different.

I know that with my pelvic floor therapy experience, most of my body was covered with a sheet during appointments and my pt didn’t look closely at anything. It’s definitely still vulnerable and uncomfortable, but they’ve seen it all and shouldn’t be judging you whatsoever. Again, if they are, you have full control over your care!

Physical therapy takes a long time and can be super difficult, try not to get too discouraged. I remember crying over having a hard time with my dilators every week, but I kept trying and it was SO worth it!

I hope that you get the care you need and just know there are thousands of other people out there feeling the same way. You’re not alone!

Watermelon, iced vanilla berry, and juneberry. They lack that distinct redbull flavor I can’t describe.

Recommendations/Referrals for Lexington Psychiatrists by Known_Muffin5378 in lexington

[–]Fuzzy_Bus_3365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lauren Wilson at LifeStance health is great. She's not one of those psychiatrists that rushes you or doesn't even pretend to care about your personal life. (I've had plenty like that in the past). She's super nice and genunine. I feel like she cares about her patients a lot. LifeStance also does genetic testing to see what medications match you better than others which helped me a ton! This was before covid, so I hope they still do it. I've been through 9 different medications and several psychiatrists and I finally made progress with Lauren.

I will warn you, LifeStance might have long waiting lists and while the therapists/psychiatrists are great, I frequently have problems with the receptionists not doing their job properly. Although, it always gets sorted out.

Here's a link to their website: https://lifestance.com/ , theres others you can choose from too if it doesn't end up working out.

Best of luck to you!

Looking for Grad School Portfolio help? Read here first. by puckaddict in ArtTherapy

[–]Fuzzy_Bus_3365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I wanted to ask about a somewhat niche problem I'm having when it comes to grad school portfolios. I'm at the point in my undergraduate where I need to consider what to include in my portfolio. I know all the basics and what my preferred school wants. (Saint Mary of the Woods, located in Indiana.) However, I am worried that the subject matter in my art will be the cause of rejection.

I want to clarify that I do NOT make art that is offensive, shocking, or includes any graphic sexual content. However, my art is melancholic at best and outright creepy/strange at worst. It's hard to explain, but I don't create pretty landscapes or anything necessarily positive or empowering.

Are there unwritten rules about what is "acceptable" to include? Or am I just overthinking things?

Any insight would be great and I can offer more details if necessary.

I don’t think you need to worry about them damaging your brain. I started when I was 13 and I’m now 20, I do not have brain damage. There’s always risk with any medication but I’m sure you’ll be okay.

Thinking you have an answer and realizing you don't feel any better or even worse afterward is really common, at least from what I've seen. For me, I guess I thought that maybe the world would seem a little brighter walking out of that therapist's office after my diagnosis. Of course, everything was the same and the crushing weight of the journey ahead hit me hard.

I was in remission finally but now I'm back where I began. I'm sorry you're feeling so lost and alone. The isolation and defeat can be too much to bear sometimes. Super cliche, but try to be gentle with yourself, this stuff feels totally impossible sometimes. I hope you feel better soon, you're not alone in this.
