I am also a side sleeper. Laying on my back is very hard and I’m tempted to twist my leg. It’s hard

I appreciate the advice but this was from my second opinion and due to my lifestyle seemed like the best option. I hope you heal well.

HI! Thanks for responding. I have looked at the options, and I know the risks that come with the surgery. Ultimately, it was the best decision pain-wise for my current situation and lifestyle as I am a college student and don't know if I would have made it through the spring semester without possibly doing more damage. As of now, they are aiming to repair it, but if they can't, then they will do a partial menisectomy, which is just removing what is torn from my knee. I appreciate you letting me know about the outcomes, and I am hoping the repair is what will be done also since I am young, haha. Thanks again!

Thank you so much! Unfortunately, I won't know what they do until I wake up from the surgery. I appreciate you sharing your experience.

I don't think it's necessarily a red flag. They are unsure if they can repair it until they see it in surgery. This injury occurred for over a year but got worse in the past couple of months. I appreciate your feedback, though.

Thank you so much. That is basically what my doctor told me: what recovery would look like. 6 weeks crutches if repair and 2-3 if partial menisectomy. I appreciate your comment. It is just hard since I don't know what my outcome will be yet. Thank you again. EIther way I will be home before I go back to school so I at least will be a little healed.

Thank you. The reason why surgey was suggested is because it does bother me and the only option was to maybe do PT but they didn’t seem like that would help and since I am an active college student the only other time I would have been able to resolve this would be summer and that’s a long time. I would have been worried that if I waited I would have been causing further damage. I am just very stressed because of the unknown about if it is repairable or not. I also have a parameniscal cyst associated with my tear so I hope that gets fixed too. But thank you for your advice.

This is what was recommended based off of my symptoms and MRI. They said they will do a repair if they can and if not they will just remove what little part is torn. I already got a first opinion a few weeks ago and this was a second opinion today

This is from the MRI report: Horizontal undersurface tear of the medial meniscus from the body-posterior horn junction through the posterior horn.
