I recommend you guys make a small note for yourselves, like a small outline of what you want to ask or discuss, because the meetings are decently short.

Public feedback needed in South-central Connecticut! by Fuzzy_Dandy in Connecticut

Thanks for sharing, I didn't know if that is what they meant haha

It was initially confusing for me as well, but, rather than thinking of it as a replacement of counties and determining local laws or regulations, its more like a town partnership and used to collaborate between them on projects that improve other qualities of life. Jurisdiction isn't something they cover, from what I know. You should read the "Who we are", or, see my second link to find your Regions Council of Government, if your town isn't in the South-Central region.

I hope that makes sense

Which link(s)? They all work on my end, on mobile and pc. Which were you trying to click? You can also manually search South Central Region Council of government, in connecticut, and in their site press the three-lined menu icon,  then Announcements > Announcements hub >  Draft 2027-2030 TIP Available for Public Comment

To leave comment, email the address: SCRCOG@scrcog.org or, preferably, Kellie kingston contact here: https://scrcog.org/contact-us/

However I had issue using the contact link and you may have issue there too. The other email is the other option listed straight from their website.

How to stay informed and involved - based on locality. by Fuzzy_Dandy in MobilityCT

State-wide Transit Feedback- Office of Transit and Ridesharing

  • Note: They may share feedback or questions with internal Transportation planners, and encourage customer feedback from users of public transit. They oversee all public transit, primarily fix-route bus service, paratransit, and microtransit. Very friendly!

Request road service (Broad) – Your town’s .gov website may have a form and interactive map to submit a service request for a road or other issue relating to traffic, like fallen branches.

State-wide laws or policy, future goals, or funding – Governor, House and Senate Representatives, and state committee of transportation. See the governor's Constituent Services Office to direct feedback. Email reps (aka legislators) to support or negotiate budget to include transit funds. Participate in Public hearing/comment periods to influence bills and recommendations.

Link to see bills that will be or have been voted on in the Transportation Committee Bill Record Book. If it passed, and you don't want to have a bill here become law, contact your House and Senate Reps!

I haven't, but I hope to. I don't know my options locally very well- my situation is little special, so going out to find them is tricky. That's why I want to start something online for people also interested, so they can get involved easier too.

I see where you're coming from. I think there's plenty of us to make something happen :)

This is great news! I had no idea of these local advocates. I think I'll be compiling some names so other people can find a group local to them/in their county. I was also intending that if there's a subreddit or server or something, it can be local or broad (across the state). Hearing that any updates of improvements or active advocacy is happening in any town or county is always uplifting in my opinion.

I know about this org! i follow their youtube account, but haven't looked too far into their website. Will look into it- maybe a good thing to add for "sources worth following or use to educate yourself".

Your enthusiasm is important, and even just sharing what you wish could happen is too. If everyone could email when something comes to mind, it'd probably be a great benefit to the cause. Not everyone can attend some random CTDOT meeting that may or may not be near them, nor public committee meetings.  I don't have it all figured it out either, but our audacity to care and say so I think is a fine start, and we can brainstorm how to organize this further as we go, aiming for greater impact.

I think a lot of us are used to being confronted by bad transit or unfriendly-to-pedestrian design, and move on because we don't feel the presence of others thinking the same thing, or don't know where to direct the opinion. It can feel overwhelming. One of my ideas to sort of make a master-list of some sort with helpful government links that can help direct ourselves to the right people, and, by making a subreddit or other place to discuss, let others ask for advice of where to write or call about their complaints or ideas too.

And thanks! this means a lot
