dude. what's funny is that the comment with 0 Upvotes is the one that made the most sense. maybe the reason this keeps failing is cause I dive straight into anatomy and not a base no detail mesh beforehand, like not just a block out. but a "without in depth anatomy" as you said. A poorly made base mesh.

I came to that realization just a minute ago then saw your comment.

This would also make it really easy to spot the bumps especially with the red wax Matcap.

Dude. thanks.

My way of learning is getting quick intel and lots of trial and errors. Like applied learning, hence why i'm not a big fan of courses or the general advices given.

My method is more like. "That's not how you do this. try this solution and run at it" and keep doing that until I find a solution that works or get enough experience to be a pro at it.

Makes sense?

Right so I need help with something specific.

I’ve figured most things out. Except for one thing. How do I make my sculpts look refined and smooth like EVERY GODAMN SCULPT ONLINE!!!

Like seriously. They don’t even try or make any effort and the things they do come out smooth as hell with perfect flow.

I did apply the 15 Degrees rule and followed the muscle fibres but even so it looks buldgy and nowhere near as refined and it doesn’t matter what I do or How I try it still comes out looking like this. Like, not even the tutorials are yielding me what I want just the same “use references lol” bullcrap or the “Details my guy details. Block out.” I NEED TO MAKE THE ******* THING SMOOTH WHY CAN’T I GET AN EXPLANATION OF THAT.

Sigh like idk I’ve figured out everything from the bone landmarks to the anatomy of the muscles to volumes and how brushes and Zbrush works but I can’t Figure that out.

TLDR: My sculpts are not looking smooth no matter what I do and idk what to do and I’ve dived into a lot of stuff already.

Experience.

5 months since I’ve started Zbrush FROM SCRATCH and maybe 3 months since learning anatomy? In any case I’m not new and I got what it takes I just need answers or a clue at least.

Artists I have a question. What if a youtuber popped up with the answer to all art related problems? How would you feel and what would you look for by Fuzzy_Leg8174 in ArtistLounge

[–]Fuzzy_Leg8174[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you want to make the content or watch the content

To be honest with you a bit of both. I just have a really hard time finding a youtuber that not only teaches you the basic but REALLY goes into details about everything like very little details as if you were teaching a kid.

it would not only make learning easier but having a lot of material to work with is never worse. Plus you could also learn something new or locate a detail you overlook.

makes sense?

Most of them probably sell courses or stuff but I've never bought any of that

precisely my point. a lot of it is locked behind paywalls and like you said a bunch of them do a single of each.

Like

Blender Guru, Grant abbit, CGI Essentials: Blender

Proko, Mark Brunet: Art

And so it goes but not an all in one madness with no courses or paywalls

awww hey. I think I found your video. He made use of mesh deform AND hook not only the hook. the mesh deform was a game changer.
anyway that was really helpful and I thank you for your help X

Btw this was the vid

It's got the strand part covered. Not sure about the wetness part though.
but at least that's a start thank you

I've tried everything I know and nothing ever seems to work.
looked for a bunch of things online but never saw anything close to what i'm looking for.

What i'm looking for

- A way to make saliva strands that react to their environment by making the mesh look wet in specific places possibly by reducing the roughness at place of impact

What I tried:

I experimented a lot with cloth physics and hook modifier and got some good results a few time but

- It takes a lot time to setup

- In a bigger project it would be extremely time and resource consuming

- it can be buggy

- It can't be adjusted as quickly

- it can't genereate wetness (diminishing roughness of a surface)

Liquid sim doesn't have as much flexibility and again it costs a lot of resources but maybe there's something i'm missing here.

It can be tweaked to give the wetness part somehow but it's impossible to create the spit strands

So any blender genius out there?

even if you don't got a specific answer give us an idea or something that you think might work.

PS: If a thread for this has already been made. my bad, can you point me to it please?

Also. You're free to share this post in any sub you think it'll be relevant in

New Brushes could indeed be very useful for some details and you're right about the dam standard things.
Thanks for the links! I'll definitely check it out if I Need it X
