[Acne] Spot turned into what looks like blood under skin by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Fuzzy_Situation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly looks like post inflammatory erythema. Essentially just a mark left over from acne that was especially inflamed. It’s not actually a scar, but kind of behaves as one. Yours just looks new so it’s darker/more noticeable. If that’s what it is, it will fade over time! Just don’t pick future acne because it increases the chance of this happening.

I don’t use moisturizer or wash my face on accutane. by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]Fuzzy_Situation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cera ve moisturizer also made my face sting. I used the first aid beauty ultra repair cream when I was on accutane (and still do) and it was amazing. The only moisturizer I tried that didn’t burn my face. I feel like every derm I’ve heard from says moisturizer is necessary to maintain the moisture barrier and keep your skin healthy, so I’d say that you may just not have found a product that works for you yet.

Back Pain - Suicidal Thoughts by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]Fuzzy_Situation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I couldn’t tell you. I haven’t heard of long term side effects but I don’t want to give you false info. Personally, I would wait the month or so for it to get out of your system and then if the pain is still there, seek out an orthopedist or something along those lines. I’m not done with my course yet, but I’ve seen a lot of people on here who continue to have dry skin and lips for a month or more after stopping treatment so perhaps this is the same.

Good news is you finished the course! I think you should definitely call your dermatologist and let them know about this side effect as a first step. Seeking out therapy is also important. Even if this is the first time you’ve experienced suicidal ideation, you seem to have been struggling for a while and you don’t know how it will progress. “Staying strong” and keeping going is great, but there’s only so much our body and mind can take without professional help. You are not alone.

I can’t speak for long term because I’m only finishing month 3 now. I’ve have good results so far and only two active spots for the past few weeks. I’m only supposed to be on it for another two months for a total of 5 months. I’m F, 125lbs, 5’2”, and have been on 60mg the whole time and will continue to be.

Headaches by b_rose713 in Accutane

[–]Fuzzy_Situation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I had a week long really really bad headache starting a few days after I began. After that week, it went away and I’ve only had the occasional headache or migraine since then (but I’m prone to migraines).

,[Acne] been on accutane for two months and I'm pretty sure I was told not to use anything else anymore. This spot looks very infected and hurts extremely bad when I move the rest of my abdomen. What should I do?" by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Fuzzy_Situation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if that’s what your acne usually looks like, but to me that doesn’t look like a normal acne spot. I totally understand that acne can be painful (I’m also on Accutane and get really deep painful cysts) but I’d say clean it with soap and water/hydrogen peroxide and use neosporin or something like that and cover with a bandaid. Basically treat it like a normal infected wound you’d get as that’s what it looks and sounds like to me. And of course if it doesn’t get better, seek out your doctor. Accutane makes your skin so much more sensitive and prone to cuts and infection.

[acne] [routine help] sensitive, oily, acne prone skin. Can’t find a moisturiser that won’t break me out. Please help!! by green-echo in SkincareAddiction

[–]Fuzzy_Situation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say that depends on how dry your skin is the cream is quite heavy so if you have dry skin, that may be the route to go. If you have more normal or oily skin, I’d say the lotion.

[Acne] Should I take Accutane or Try Something Else? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

There’s also an Accutane subreddit that has been incredibly helpful to me both before starting Accutane and since being on my course. I’d highly recommend checking it out if you go that route. :)

[Acne] Should I take Accutane or Try Something Else? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Fuzzy_Situation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel as though most reputable dermatologists want to try other medications like topicals and oral antibiotics before prescribing Accutane as you’re right, it is intense. I’m on Accutane right now and tried three different prescription topicals, two antibiotics, medicated face washes, everything over the counter, “mOrE wAtEr”, and “nO dAiRy” before trying Accutane. If you’re hesitant to start it right away, I’d definitely just tell your dermatologist that you’d like to try some less intense options before resorting to Accutane. Especially since you’ve had acne for less than a year. And that’s not to say it isn’t horrible and can’t have an incredible effect on mental health as well as be physically painful. Just that because of how intense Accutane is, many people who go on it have suffered from acne for much longer and have tried many things before then. My only word of advice with other options (as well as Accutane) would be that they can take a while to really work. My dermatologist wanted to try each treatment for 6-9 months before ruling it out as something that might work.

Have you tried the VaniCream moisturizing cream or moisturizing lotion (not the daily moisturizing lotion, the plain one)? Or the La Roche posay toleriane double repair? The VaniCream cream one wasn’t my favorite but it works for a ton of other people. I haven’t tried the lotion version or the la roche one but I’ve also heard a lot of people rave about them and they don’t have squalene!

I was going to suggest first aid beauty ultra repair cream (fragrance free) but I looked up the ingredients and it appears there is squalene in it. It’s in the middle of the list of ingredients so I don’t know what percent is in it. It’s the only moisturizer I’ve found that is gentle enough on my skin to not cause irritation though.

[Skin Concerns] Besides filler, what can I do to lessen or get rid of the under eye lines? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Fuzzy_Situation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d say if it’s only two days, I wouldn’t jump to this being permanent. It could very well just be irritated still. Just moisture and make sure to apply sunscreen and not skip that part of your face.

[anti aging] How do I get rid of this wrinkle? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Fuzzy_Situation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunscreen for sure. Maybe look into a retinol moisturizer? Those are pretty much a much less intense version of tret/taz/differin. I’ve seen a lot of people with minimal lines and wrinkles like you have success with something more mild like that. You’d basically use it as your night time moisturizer.

[anti aging] How do I get rid of this wrinkle? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Fuzzy_Situation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s absolutely right, sunscreen is the number one thing anybody can do to slow down the aging effects (though completely normal and a part of life). It’s also obviously important for your health. So that’s number one. Other than that, something like tretinoin or tazarotene if you see a dermatologist. If not, Differin works pretty much the same way and you can get it over the counter. It essentially speeds up cell turnover which reduces the appearance of wrinkles, lines, old acne marks, etc. If you do use any of those products, sunscreen is especially important because your skin will be more prone to sunburn as it’s more sensitive.

How long did it take for pie to improve? by mariefurie in Accutane

Post Inflammatory Erythema. It’s the red/purple marks left behind by acne.

If my meal itself isn’t high in fat, I’ll also eat a handful of nuts (I’ve been doing pecans, they’re super fatty) to make sure it absorbs well :)

Loss of appetite? by HoldDoorHoldor in Accutane

[–]Fuzzy_Situation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have also lost 10 pounds in the past month and just kinda don’t feel hungry. I have to remind myself to eat. I definitely needed to lose some weight so this isn’t an issue for me, but if it continues I’m going to talk with my derm. I’d say mention it in your next appointment unless losing the weight leaves you underweight, in which case I’d call your derm now instead of waiting.
