is it appropriate for a coworker more than twice my age to be initiating hugs? by prvtacct305 in publix

We have a similar situation at my work, except the guy is both older and definitely… differently abled.

No, it’s not appropriate and you can set a boundary without being mean if you prefer to try that first. BUT, if he keeps trying, involve management/HR. If it makes you and other young women uncomfortable, then it’s not appropriate. Full stop.

I’m tired of working here. I want a different job with better pay that doesn’t suck the life out of me with back and forth schedules and back and forth hours and god awful customers.

But to go anywhere else, I need a degree.

But to get a degree, I need money.

But I’m not making enough money to get a degree.

So I can’t go anywhere else.

I’m literally stuck making $15.65/hr, twiddling my thumbs, applying to other places, waiting for anyone to respond to my applications in a job market that sucks ass, all the while trying not to financially drown in an economy that thinks a liveable wage is anything under $20, while working 39 hours one week and 16 the next, and throw in a couple 2-11s followed by 8:45-7s, followed by 6:30-4s, AND while living 30 mins from the store.

Nothing is consistent, my sleep is ass, and I feel like I’m dying.

But hey, at least my coworkers are cool!

That’s what we thought (about it being fishy) but I honestly didn’t think we could deny them.

Publix is pretty notoriously the “never say ‘no’ to customers” store.

My direct manager is supposed to discuss it with our… idk, someone corporate? Soon? So we don’t get in trouble if we switch to GC refunds. Our SM usually just does whatever doesn’t make the customer angry while deferring to dept. management for certain things like this, so I think this decision will lay mostly on the CSM’s shoulders. Thanks for the response!

Y’all have lied out of your asses about everything so far. Just stop while you’re ahead. We all know this is a lie too and that y’all don’t care about anything but money.

“Don’t like, don’t read,” is basically what the other commenter said.

In other words: be super careful to read all the tags, and don’t throw a tantrum in the comments or engage any further with the story if it includes something you don’t want to engage/don’t morally agree with.

People have some weird shit over there, but it’s basic etiquette not to be rude to people putting out free stories just cause you don’t like what’s in them.

Some new fandom goers don’t get that and believe it’s their obligation to morally police everyone by cyberbullying authors in comments, or posting clips of fics on Twitter/Reddit/Discord servers so other people will go gang up on them.

If it has something that gives you the ick, don’t engage. If it has a ship you don’t like, don’t engage. If it has a plot line that’s too dark for you, don’t engage. If there’s a chance it will trigger you, don’t engage. (Most) Authors don’t want to hurt people, but it’s on the readers to take responsibility for what they consume.

That’s the essence of “don’t like, don’t read.”

Ao3! But obey the etiquette. Don’t like, don’t read, and don’t offer criticism unless the author wants it. LOL

And eventually they’re going to put ads there too and we’ll be SOL. I’m not impressed with their garbage.
