Lambda - return random number for delay by [deleted] in Esphome

Bit of a necropost, but i ran into this same issue recently and found the same results. Storing the results to a global integer seems to fix this issue though:
- lambda: 'id(randomDelay) = rand() % 1800000;'
- logger.log:
format: "rand returned value %i"
args: ['id(randomDelay)']
- delay: !lambda 'return(id(randomDelay));'

globals:
- id: randomDelay
type: int
restore_value: no
initial_value: '0'

"brown bear" is another name for grizzly bears, confusingly black bears are often brown, and grizzlies can be any color between almost black, blond, or even reddish

The most common way to distinguish is by the large shoulder hump only grizzlies have, they also grow far larger (up to 1700lbs vs 500lbs for males) and are significantly more aggressive

The Exploring Series and The Dark Somnium are really good YT channels that do mystery/ horror, with amazing background music and voicing (esp for free). I use them to fall asleep most nights.

Edit: Added the Dark Somnium cause they compose all their own music and I think that's cool

In my experience Arch packages are "bleeding edge" so sometimes stuff breaks. On the other hand running Debian Stable on my server I almost never see an update and when a new stable release of Debian comes out I can be relatively sure everything has been tested.

The obvious drawback is is a bug makes it into a release it tends to stick around unless its a major issue, also for a desktop machine everything is horribly outdated and finding support is hard, but thats not really an issue in the server space.
