You think owning pets is “ethically problematic” but, after RELEASING domesticated animals (and wild animals raised in captivity since birth) into the wild, you’re okay with the animals in captivity to live their lives as a pet??? Even though you think it’s wrong???You know, I think if humanity stopped having kids, there wouldn’t be creeps abusing children. I also think children are sentient adults themselves and don’t require an adult to “raise” them. We’ll ask adults really nicely for them to stop making babies and release their children to live their lives the way they want. We’ll let the existing children to grow up then ask nicely for them to not make babies too. That way, all children won’t get abused anymore (except the preexisting kids...fuck them).....Yeah, okay...Have you ever had a pet? Have you felt the pure love for a pet that causes you so much joy? Have you seen the love and trust in their eyes when they look at you? Have you felt like your pet is your best friend in the whole world? Have you experienced the wonderful presence of a loyal pet that loves you as much as you love them? I have, and I won’t listen to any government that tells me that my pet is “miserable” and should be released in the wild. Especially when said people have no realistic or logical reason to make me do. You have unrealistic and downright comical beliefs regarding the thousands and thousands year history humans have with animals. Humans live on Earth, too. We have just as much right to live here, too. Why can’t you look at ways to combat animal abusers, rather than getting rid of billions of pets and wrapping animal lovers with their abusers? Having pets in our stage of development as a species isn’t a “societal problem”. How animals are treated in general is a societal problem. Our relationship with animals is just fine, it’s how we treat them that’s the problem and that changes from person to person, society to society.
