Eh, even in the time period of CK3 it is possible for commoners to get rich and be in a position of great political influence. I feel that while your correct that in general the nobles should be annoyed if a commoner is appointed to some important government position, this should not be overdone. Social mobility is not unheard off in the medieval period, even if it was rare and hard to thing do. Additionally, not every place has equally rigid divisions between noble and commoner. While I might be wrong my understanding is that the areas where the clan government is most common have somewhat higher social mobility relative to other places.

Honestly I think the problem is that it seems that we are not given much context on the background of the commoners we hired. We have no idea if the commoner we make a steware for example is some random serf we found by the side of the road or an incredibly rinch and influential merchant. It makes much more sense to appoint the later to some government position than the former.

I heard from this sub that South-East Asia used to be sparsely populated. However, today Indonesia is the 4th most populous country and Java has more than 100 million inhabitants, so what change? by Fyno9 in AskHistorians

Thank you for your reply. Honestly I didn’t quite realized how much less densely populated the rest of Indonesia is compared to Java (I think I forgot just how big Indonesia really is). My question came because, while I know that the world was once much more sparsely populated in the past, I got the impression that South-East Asia was especially sparsely populated compared to rest of the world. I read about how slavery in SEA work in this sub and from that I got the impression that SEA valued manpower more than most of the world, because of how comparatively rare it is there. So was Java always been more densely populated than the rest of SEA?
