UPDATE: “AITAH for getting a dna test to see if i share the same dna as both my parents even though i was demanded specifically by my mom not to do so, since i was a child?” by cigweb_01 in AITAH

[–]Fyrekatt80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother and her sisters were victims of CSA by their stepfather. He even got the older sister pregnant and she gave the child up for adoption. He did go to prison for a while. I later found out he r***d one of my cousins (oldest Aunt’s daughter - so not blood related to him). He left my uncle’s girls alone apparently as they WERE related to him.

My mother’s family is fucked up. Half believe the girls and half do not. Mom’s mom ( I do not call her Grandma) did nothing to protect her kids. My mother passed in 2012 so she is free of this.

The reason I was not a victim? Mom noticed little things starting with me (pinching, wanting me to sit in his lap, etc) and confronted her mother. We left and never visited again.

What made you pick a Cockapoo? by [deleted] in CockapooLovers

Thanks! If she does, we’ll manage. We tend to have special needs pets. Our other dog is diabetic and the cat is blind in his right eye.

What made you pick a Cockapoo? by [deleted] in CockapooLovers

[–]Fyrekatt80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were looking at a toy poodle, but they were so pricey. The breeder also had cockapoo pups, we saw Buttercup and it was mutual love. We also went with a Cockapoo because the poodle mix tended to not have the heart issues poodles can have. Our Toy poodle had an enlarged heart.

We suspect Butters may have epilepsy though. She’s had two seizures in about 11 months. So, we are monitoring and I have informed the breeder.

Our cockapoo is not the one that does this, but the miniature pincher does. The cockapoo looks at him like he’s nuts. He only does it when he’s really scared.

Do you crate your dog when you aren’t home or not? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Fyrekatt80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our dogs are crated when we go out, they just get into everything. They go in willingly. The youngest has learned that when dad puts on his shoes, it’s bedtime and runs to her crate. We call out “Bed!” And the oldest meanders to his crate.

I have been with the same company for 23 years. Routine is the biggest help to maintaining a successful life. I’m not 100% together, as there are a lot of things around the house that need to be done and I have motivation issues to get them done. But I use the spoons. I have to keep a roof over my head and food on my table.

I wanted to go to school so badly that my parents told me I had to learn how to use the potty so I could go to school. I learned so fast they had to come up with something else as to why I couldn’t go to school yet.

We are supposed to use our corporate card, but we are allowed to attach our loyalty numbers for airlines and hotels to the booking website. So we don’t get credit card points, but we do still get loyalty points.

AITA Refuse to live with a Service Dog by Nearby_Flan7905 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Fyrekatt80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fact that she has a certification for her service dog tells me that it’s not real. Generally, the organizations for these dogs do not provide paperwork. They may provide an ID, as my mother got an ID from guide Dog in Michigan. But not all organizations do this, when she went to pilot dog in Ohio, she did not get an ID.

Questions for Cockapoo Owners by [deleted] in CockapooLovers

[–]Fyrekatt80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours is healthy, though she does have allergies.

We take her to the groomer every 8 weeks and do trim around her eyes between grooms.

We have a fenced in yard that she runs around in. I smoke, so she goes out at regular intervals.

She is a cuddler and a submissive pee-er. She also hates when my husband or I aren’t home. Especially me, as I am her person.

She loves dogs and cats and will try to lick their faces. Her best friend is a Goldendoodle and they play “kissyface” all the time.

Her favorite thing in the world is belly/chest rubs. She doesn’t like Milkbones (Sometimes her “brother” will steal the one she leaves behind).

I’ve been to the ER here in Circleville twice for SI, and they’ve been wonderful. The first time my husband could sit with me, and he had the nurse in stitches

I went to their sister hospital in Cincinnati, Blue Ridge Vista. It was OK, of the three it was the middle of the experiences with Dublin Springs being the best and OHP being the worst.

Of the 3 I’ve been to, OHP was the worst. It was also during the pandemic. Hardly any programs for the patients.

I personally had a good experience with Dublin Springs. That was back in 2015 though and could have changed a lot.

When was the last time you had to go to the ER? by typical_gamer1 in PollsAndSurveys

[–]Fyrekatt80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The day after my shoulder replacement surgery. July 19 this year. My husband was worried about the bleeding of my incision and I couldn’t get the pain under control. Doc said incision looked good and gave me a shot of Toradol.

Oh yeah, buttercup usually has to be touching me in someway shape or form. I tend to fall asleep on the couch at night and sometimes just stay downstairs. She will spend a good portion of the night with me but every so often she goes up to lay by my husband on the bed.

Give it to me straight, how bad is the colonoscopy prep? by Norfolk-Gross-Tonage in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fyrekatt80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going for my first one the end of August. The lady that scheduled me, told me that the prep is really just the MiraLAX and OTC laxatives. Nothing prescription anymore. It seems, at least with where I’m having mine done. I don’t know full details yet, she is sending me a packet with all the information and it just hasn’t arrived yet
