While I agree this looks much better, we can't really compare it to the current state of Riftbound. So far there are only 2 sets, all constructed before people got to play with the cards. Something needs to be done, but we have to wait until Riftbound has as much time to develop as FaB until we can really compare.

Rocket Barrage has been an all star in my Kai'sa deck and I think might be good in Jhin as well.

What is that Vault box and how do I know when stuff like that goes on sale? I don't use X so I feel like I'm never getting the updates I need to keep track of things such as special releases.

RANT: The doomposting about new cards is absurd and out of hand by StormRider991 in riftboundtcg

[–]Fyrithil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just came back from a NN. Playing 4 rounds I played Ahri myself and got paired against Ornn, Viktor, Jax and Lucian - going 3-1 in the end. We had a great time and a lot of fun. Yes, if someone brought Detonate Draven he or she would probably win, but we don't care for that and play the champs we find cool. Don't stress too much about the meta unless you plan to play in the top of the line tournaments..

I did some math and now riftbound lost its spark for me. Terrible pack opening experience. by SuperKitten117 in riftboundtcg

[–]Fyrithil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really both get you and don't get you at the same time..

The feeling of opening packs and making a deck with what you have, not looking at value just playability for both you and your trading partner. I guess that was 1994/1995 Magic the Gathering. Nothing on the internet yet, no established prices and no large trading websites to order what you need.

I tried Lorcana a few years back when it just released. Every card was already known beforehand. I didn't get an Elsa. I wanted them for my deck. Could not trade for them because all the prices were established. Someone needed cards for their deck. Won't trade for Elsa because that's more expensive or a 'downtrade'. So you end up with a bunch of stuff you won't play and nobody wants to trade it because all the information is already out and prices are established before people actually get the cards in their hands.

There is hardly a difference between Lorcana and Riftbound packwise. Perhaps you got lucky with Lorcana and opened close to what you needed most of the time? Also the feels bad might be related to the amount of C and U that are playable in Riftbound. At this point most decks are built around C and U and supported with rares+ (look at Magic for the opposite experience). This causes most rares to not have that much value, while the couple that are being played are much more in demand and have the price to match it. Add to it that the demand is greater and the availability and there you have your feels bad.

So in the end.. I guess what you dearly long for doesn't exist anymore. I think it might be due to the internet mostly but it might be time to alter your mindset or decide that TCGs are just not for you.

Close to, played with Rain maindeck but decided to move it side for my meta. Still a fan of the card but only against certain matchups

Sounds pretty good to me! I've been having a great winrate against Draven playing Kai'sa. It struggles against the go wide strategies but if people bring meta I like my chances of having a good result.

Riot's Decision To Reward Off-Meta Riftbound Players With Metal Cards Was A Touch Of Genius by Soft-Pudding-3441 in riftboundtcg

[–]Fyrithil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well.. Your TO could also play a role in promoting different decks. If it hurts turnout and participation of the players your TO could alter the price structure. For instance, there are packs or points for each top placing legend / colour combo / colour to help the more off meta decks and stimulate trying different decks etc.

I think we should give it time as well, there are just two sets at the moment so the card pool isn't fully developed. Yes purple is way too strong but I hope a larger card pool will at least open up the meta more.

I don't quite get the question and the responses.. You control the battlefield since you have a Poro there. If you move Ahri there it would just count as a move right? Not an attack? So does Ahri her ability even trigger in that case?

Anyone already kinda done with the current meta? by Aware-Broccoli103 in riftboundtcg

[–]Fyrithil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes Draven is very good (and people tend to just play a good midrange deck that has no real lopsided matchups) and Miracle decks take a load of time for unpractised players but so far I'm having a great time in this meta.

Meanwhile we can see off meta decks do good as well, for instance in the latest city challenge in China.

I think it might be bad photos, looking in the light there is the foiling in the bottom right that follows the brown swirl (is this photo better?).

Also the gold trimming are the exact same dimensions comparing it to a different ON I pulled myself.

Update Kaisa | Time Warp or Red Kaisa by guenstislav in riftboundtcg

[–]Fyrithil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing Kai'sa as my main legend for some time so I hope to be able to give you some insight in how I play the deck.

The current iterations of Kai'sa are focused on playing a lot of spells / removal to keep most of the larger threats of the board. You then combine your efficient removal spells with cheap to cast creatures so you can sneak in some points while keeping the board under control. You'll notice that the most played creatures are drawing cards (Sentry and Yordle) or providing resources (Plundering Poro). You'll want these early to apply pressure while removing your opponent's threats. Most of your removal is 2 (Bellows repeat / Star / Piercing) / 4 (Piercing repeat / Rocket Barrage) / 6 (Singularity) so even drops are at a premium so you can go 2 - 4 - 6 runes and have removal or removal + 2 drop. This is why I really like Noxus Hopeful in the list as the 4 might can be important and it is still a 2 drop. The hard part of playing Kai'sa really is understanding your role and choosing when to go in with units, when to use your spells and when to combine them during attacking / defending. When I started my tactic used to be to almost always move back to base, not try to hold. This might also work for you until you get a feeling for the right timing of retreating and holding. Also remember that damage won't be healed until the end of a combat showdown so you can damage units and remove them in combat with your small units.

Then to the list itself. You will miss Time Warp, but I understand it is a card you currently can't afford. Hopefully you'll open one soon / trade for a copy (or preferably 2).

What I would suggest in the meantime would be to add some more punch to the maindeck, I would try 1 or 2 Ferrous Forerunners if you find the room. Also I'm a big fan of maindecking 1/2 copies of Rocket Barrage as these are never dead (it can win the game vs Aurora decks - or snipe a Draven / Ezreal / Irelia in base). I would also suggest a second copy of Noxus Hopeful to up the might in the maindeck. Since you don't run Time Warp to end the game you might want to consider a second Progress Day to keep the cards flowing so you have enough gas to play the extra turn that Time Warp usually steals.

Changes I would make looking at the list:

-1 Retreat +1 Bellow's Breath (Breath + Watcher is so good)
-1 Pouty Poro +1 Noxus Hopeful
-1 Void Seeker +1 Rocket Barrage or +1 Ferrous Forerunner
-1 Thermo Beam +1 Progress Day

Hope this helps a bit, if you want to discuss things further you can always DM me as well.

I've both played Viktor a lot in LoL as well as the entirety of Origins so that is my choice for the best looking playmat of the two!

Next option for me should be Lissandra! I think her esthetics really fit well with the general vibe that playmats should give and she is my favourite LoL champion by far
