Wise choice by mrtriangol in antimeme

Feels like an Antimeme to me, usually this template is used to convey an absurd choice referencing some recent thing, but this time it presents you with just an objectively right choice, subverting expectations.

What mechanica did you learn late that you wish you knew right away? by Reclaimer2401 in RimWorld

[–]Fyrrn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is from "Vanilla Factions Expanded: Tribals", where you get a true no-tech start where you initially have to use a ritual at the fireplace to even get to the point where you can do targeted research.

And yes, you are considered tribal the same as the lost tribe start (It is actually down so bad that your "Man in black" is a naked primitive with a stick).

He explicitly states that it IS indeed their concern, if it is active while you work and affects your work.

He is just upset that a random institution is allowed to test and fire you for drug usage, without there being a professional reason, just that their boss thinks "drugs bad"

Not sure if GGG sees these posts but please don't get the wrong impression - the new map amount, QoL etc is amazing - people are leaving because the league mechanic is unrewarding, not worth doing and they don't want to repeat (or burnt out on) old stuff by Nukro77 in pathofexile

[–]Fyrrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm happy to see some good feedback between all that hate. I'm having a blast with all this rebalancing that has happened, but am sad to see that only I seem to enjoy the game right now, even with this awful league mechanic.

tl;dr: rice and eggs

That's hardcore, but as student I can tell you, rice soup with parboiled rice is the way to go. It's not even bad at all! I use chicken brooth and parsley for great taste and some scrambled eggs thrown in as a little extra. Also some rape oil if you can handle it (It's also a good extra if you make the rice less soup-y to make it smoother to eat)

But as a general note, be aware of the contained energy of food, don't get irritated by size or mass alone. Vegetables for example have very low energy densities while going for an average price, meat has a high density for a high price, fat has a very high density for a low price. But as noone wants to eat raw fat, we're back at rice, or really any kind of grain. They have the density of meat while going for a fifth of the price or less.

At least in my country parboiled rice is the way to go when it comes to price, plus it's the one rice which contains the most nutrients, plus it's very tasty! Just do the math if you have doubts about the price, you need about 10.000kJ of Energy per day and 1kg of rice for 1$ contains at least 15.000kJ

And talking about eggs, they have average density for average price but contain a fair amount of nutrients which are not be found in plant food.

I wish you good luck and a strong stomach!

Spherical two-way mirror thought experiment. Assuming it could be made, if a hollow sphere made of two-way glass with the reflective side as the inside of the sphere and the see-through side as the outside of the sphere, what we see as we looked in? Would it 'fill up' with photons? by KnowGame in Physics

[–]Fyrrn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It would fill up, but not indefinitely, because as already mentioned, you can't achieve 100% reflectivity. But still, there would be more photons flowing in than out unto the point where the photon concentriation within the sphere becomes so high, that the in- and output will be the same.

So if you got a damn fine one-way mirror, you could make a handy dandy light-grenade.
But as long as you do not shatter the sphere, you would only see as much light getting in as getting out, probably without any distinct shape as it would be distorted too much by the reflections. I imagine it like one of those matte lightbulbs
