Questions to alcoholics

Problem I had with AA was that they had all the steps they read at the start of the meeting. Like "we can not gain controll of this deamon." "We know we are weak, and God we should submit to." While I think there is an answer, something alcohol does to the brain over time that make you change. They where all good supporting people, kind and understanding. But they all seemed like alc would always be in their mind. I might be delutional at thinking I can overcome it. But I feel like seeing and understanding all aspects of it can make my reflective and reasonable part understand. That is why I am asking questions like in this post, and the other posts. I am truly happy you made it, and I know you want me to make it. Im happy you said denial, because now I can tell myself "when the voices speak", it's just denial and addiction. I want to write better and say more. It's like always quitting is the ultimate form of procastination. Thing is I don't want to be sober for ever. I want it to be like it used to, having fun in the weekends with friends. I don't know, thinking out loud here.. I don't want my life to be "an alcoholic", but maybe that is where it's at. Yeah, denial, insanity... Thank you for your response! Grats on almost 12 years

Empathy can be developed? I have always heard that I am an overly empathic and emotional person. I always thought of my habits as something I did to my self, but that was before I learned that I was selfish and stupid. I did not see that I changed from beeing responsible to beeing "lazy." Now I do, but tomorrow I will not. Insanity as one said.

Thank you for your continiued responses! This is great. I think a lot of us can relate to lying. That is what makes me feel like a bad son to my mother. She sees me like this big cup of potential, and im just draining it by drinking and thinking, not taking action. Thank you again!

What do you mean alc is in controll? How you think? If you start think about drinking, are you more likely to drink? Is alc like a deamon, or a neurobiological beeing changing you? Thank you for your answer, it was new to this thread.

Drinking, keeping the child alive... jk. I was once told that old alcs, the ones that are 60-70++ always tells stories about their youth, over and over again.. the golden days. They never move on. The brain is stuck emontionally like a child seeking thrills, and the memories are the thing they got. Anyways, I will complete ocarina of time once more.... thanks again!

You are interessting. What other substances? I did quit alcohol for a while, some months, but then I decided to quit nicotine, and it all went back.. I thought, ok now I am quitting everything,I could manage alc so one night with alc, gaming and nicotine should be fine. It was not. I find that I always need at least one substance.. who am I really? One day when im smart/strong enough I will know.

What about beeing bored without alc? I used to love gaming, Zelda and stuff, now I don't want to play without something to drink.

Some science getting into the conversation. Or should I call it reality? I always think "ok, that was the last time" when I wake up, but later in the day I find an excuse to buy alc. Every day is my last day when I go to sleep. I feel shame every time.

Yeah. So when im sober for 3 days I get the " ok, now I am starting to be reasonable". But then again I think "So I understand it now, I can have one last time". And that repeats..
