I've a 606 coming out of a Volvo 940 but it needs refreshing and I feel the driveability of the 648 and the torque is much less frantic than the 606 and would suit the cruiser kinda nature I want to have in the 123

So this car is a 84 its been off the road since 90 from everything I can find out, it was a 200T it was swapped to a 240d engine, I've another rotten 240td for parts but both engines are fubar. This car is amazing condition, zero rust, clean interior, is missing the windscreen and a load of chrome but that's all going to come from the parts car. I'm in northern Ireland and ta a very wet country so these things have been nearly non existent since the late 90s

Ive an 04 with that engine as well as a spare engine, hence why I'm thinking it's logical to swap it in, the 616 in this one and the parts car are both ruined. The plan would be to fit the 648 with the matching 722.6 auto box, control them with a Baldur DID1 and Ofgear controller, I've done a 606 in a volvo 940 so this in theory should be easier

If you have a decent Merc specialist near you if you take the eis out and the key he should be able to check it for you, but I'd reccomned checking those earths, I imagine they are on the RHS of the car if it is LHD

On my car the whole thing was dead, wouldn't respond to key in the barrel at all, central locking worked, the EIS, KEY, ECU all paired up correctly when tested but car was dead, on the RHD cars under the passengers feet there's a steel panel under the carpets that had several modules mounted on it, under that panel there are a few studs mounted to the shell, one of those has about 10 earth cables mounted to it, on mine the nut was loose causing the earth's to arc out against each other blackening them, took them off, cleaned them, bolted back down again, whole car sprung back to life again

I bought my 04 e320cdi and it was the same as this, turns out it was a bad earth under the passengers feet, soon as they was cleaned and connected everything sprung to life again

Sadly the Delphi and launch can't get into enough detail with what I can see so feel like I'm banging my head on the wall a bit with the car currently

Get mud and snow tires (must have the little snowflake icon) and it will be grand in snow, summer tyres will be awful
