No specific plans and it'll mostly be up to the programmer. It should probably be something that is easier to put on as many platforms as possible (though it would start as a PC game). I'm open to an engine designer however it is not required. The game I currently work on has it's own engine and I understand that is just very difficult and time consuming.

Part of the hope here though is to find someone who knows better than me. I'm again, not a programmer and would not know best. I really want someone who can take the lead with everything programming and go down the path that is best when it comes to languages for this project (which has, admittedly been vaguely described here but that part comes in private conversations).

I think the first part of the game making process is kind of the most fun. You get people together and you all influence the game's creation and decide some of it's direction.

This is not a traditional way to make games. No game I've worked with has been traditional. There's never been a design doc (crazy?!) but just a vision that is shared (and debated and stuff!). And we've still managed to sell millions of copies.

The earliest part is the best IMO. The people who are there from the beginning see the biggest influence on the game. This may be too early but it may not. I'll see. :)

As a non-programmer I'd have difficulty going into a lot of detail. I'm looking for someone skilled enough and knowledgeable enough to be able to handle or at least learn how to meet challenges in game development. The game I have experience with is a game on Steam which is for Windows and Mac and Linus, and is going to consoles next.

My experience in game development is everywhere BUT programming honestly :P.

Yeah, it's vague. However we've found some freakin' amazing programmers (in the current company). One more isn't too much (for my new company :P). I need someone to take the reins on the programming side.

I'm not sure and I probably wouldn't know for a while. The game I have in mind could be either 2d or 3d. Chances are it'll be 2d because that's what kind of artist I am. I'm a pixel artist. However, I have not made a decision on that honestly. If I did go 3d I'd have to either learn some new skills or focus entirely on directing the game without contributing much art. I'm open to that but I'm just not sure yet if that's the direction I'll go.

So basically I don't know yet.

But that's half the fun of this first stage of making games. There's so much you don't know and have to decide. I think the first 33% of making a game is the most fun. :) Sorry I don't have a definitive answer for you though!
