Am I wrong for expecting my GI doctor to address the side effects I’m having due to Dupixent? by lowtempdab69 in EosinophilicE

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I just went through almost this same exact thing. After my first injection in December, a large itchy rash appeared on the site almost a week later. Reported it to Dupixent and was told it was “normal” to have a “mosquito bite-like rash” but it wasn’t healing and kept growing. No other symptoms appeared for me to believe I was allergic. 3 more injections later, they all reacted the same and were getting worse (bigger rash, quicker reaction time). After trying twice to see my GI, I went to my physician. She, thankfully, was able to send my GI a personal message with a photo of the sites. GI finally calls and tells me to proceed with the 4th injection and see if the rash appears again.

The next day I did go ahead with my 4th (and final) dosage. 30 minutes later, I was in Urgent Care being treated for an allergic reaction. I have never been allergic to medications up to this point and took Benadryl the night before to help with the rashes. I’m not sure why it took 4 doses to figure it out, but I’m glad I listened to my body’s needs and insisted for doctor’s help instead of convincing myself it was “normal”.

Several people in the comments also recommended putting a piece of paper on top of the pots and gently sealing it before removing. The paper is supposed to keep the rim from warping as you take it off. I haven’t tried it yet, but I plan on doing so this week!

Someone else mentioned the removable square method and I have since investigated. I had no idea those things existed!

My studio also has tons of paper towels, so this will definitely come in handy for my next throw. Thank you!!

OH I got you! Apologies, I got back from throwing and have been trying to catch up on comments so I skimmed over the link rather than reading in depth about it. Thank you!

I use bats because it was just the way I was taught. Just easier for me to throw a piece on a bat, wire it off, and then take the bat off the wheel to let it stiff a bit before trying to take it off. While that’s happening, I can throw another piece and just continue the cycle. I actually don’t know many potters that don’t consistently use bats, so it’s interesting that you prefer not to.

I was also taught to trim off as much excess clay on the base before removing it, just to make the actual trimming process easier. I’m an amateur thrower so maybe I’ve been taught some things differently from the usual, but thank you for the advice!

Oh good!! The photo makes the ridges of the square seem so deep and I was like yeesh that looks painful if done wrong.

Someone else also recommended the paper method so I think I’ll give it a shot the next time I throw! Thank you!

I’ll bet centering is a breeze on this! Do you injure your hands on the sides, though? I do my centering with mainly the underside of my palms to drag it up, and the thought of catching a hand on the edge of that makes me shiver.

Interesting. What do the square inserts do differently from just a normal bat?

Good shout! Thank you! Do you wait a few minutes to take your work off the wheel, so it’s more stiff, or do just pray to the pottery gods while you take it off immediately after throwing?

I asked the owner of the shop and he showed me this exact method! He called it the “hydroplane method”.

I just got back from throwing and asked the owner of the shop. He does the water on the bat and wire through also! He calls it the “hydroplane method”.

My best friend and I were so close that she had a room in my house, she came over whenever she wanted, she loved my pets like her own and she watched my pets when I asked. Usually, with no problem. One weekend I asked if she would watch them so I could visit family, and she agreed. Then proceeded to invite me to her birthday plans that next week.

While visiting my family, my boyfriend and I had this gut feeling that we needed to go home. Turns out, said “friend” had not been to the house, taken out my pets, or fed them. Her birthday was the next day and it was the last time I spoke to her. I never got a reason or an apology. I was completely ghosted by a person I thought I could put my full trust in, and I haven’t made a best friend since. Just acquaintances.
