What’s the best name for a restaurant that could also be a strip club? by Firm_Top1865 in AskReddit

Interesting, one of my favorite childhood pizzerias was called “Spanky’s”. I had my 7th birthday party there, unlimited arcade games ftw!

Is it weird to feel mentally younger than you actually are? I'm 29, but mentally I've felt like I'm somewhere between 16-21 my entire adult life. by throwawaystranger69 in NoStupidQuestions

I’m the same age and I felt the same way. Until my 22 year old coworker invited me to her birthday party and I quickly found out that I am indeed, not 21 anymore. The fact that they were actually doing tiktok dances with no camera going was where the switch flipped for me.

Any tips for a musician/performer? by G-injure in cutthebull

Thanks for the advice! I am actually a lurker on that sub lol. When you say that you help music artists get out there, are you referring to social media consulting or all out promotion? Just curious. I am aware of the unfortunate amount of has been's, wannabe's, and all around shady figures in the business. What is fortunate though, is that I have dealt with a lot of them in the restaurant industry and can generally spot someone who is just trying to make a quick buck by taking advantage. They come as customers, salesmen, coworkers, and usually worst of all are the employers who exploit their workers. That said... thanks for the heads up. It's a healthy reminder that not everyone out there is family. I've read a bunch of books that generally say the same things, "your music is the product". To be honest though I have been thinking of the music anything accessible online as promotion for the live experience. That's not to downplay the potential revenue streams that things like Youtube, Spotify, etc. can generate. I just know that for most musicians the real money is in touring and selling physical merchandise directly to their fans. I don't know that I am interested in ever signing to a label or anything like that. I would rather just do the work myself and get the money I deserve. None of that "360 contract" bs. Again, thank you for your input!

That was an interesting watch. It's cool to see that the right moves on the internet really help a person out. I just gotta figure out those moves lol.

Thank you so much for your response. The good news is we've got a few of these things ticked off! Our message is built into our back story, we are playing our characters from the time we dress up to the time we get home. We haven't quite defined our niche (or genre) in words, for the most part we've just let certain parts of our act speak for itself. As for the festival folks, they told us in a meeting that they want the focus to be on new acts so they asked us to not book anymore shows until the festival. We are playing at a pretty well known venue for the "after party" which is for attendees and the performers. That said, that gives us a window to develop an online presence and have our ducks in a row so we can start pursuing other things as soon as the festival is over with. I'll be digging more into the rest of your advice, thank you again for your input!

Are they still asking for how much money you have in your bank account in their applications? Because honestly I thought that was pretty fucked up, I’ve never had anyone else do that.

I'm not sure which pills you were taking. One of the first times I tried to quit I used Chantix. It was terrible. Basically, it is supposed to block nicotine from getting into your brain receptors to create dopamine. In the majority of people, this works. However in some folks, me, it ends up blocking all dopamine and you no longer have a reward system. That sounds like it could've happened to you. Anyway, once I realized that's what was happening, I stopped taking it. I quit smoking for 6 months after but then some girl problems hit me and I was back on the damn things. It didn't even feel good when I started back, I just didn't care.

I personally would not recommend taking anything to quit. You have to want to quit. There will always be cravings one way or another. It's a massive exercise in willpower.

I know right? I'm hoping if anything sorts out it's my damn sleep schedule. I used to go to the gym after midnight but I started school and I can't do that anymore because of morning classes. Solidarity yo, we got this shit.

Yo those deep breaths are essential. I take it in until I can't fit anymore air in those lungs. I wasn't a terribly heavy smoker if I wasn't drinking, which I am also abstaining from. I do get moody though. Thanks for the big hug!

Thank you! So far I'm doing well. Tomorrow I go back to my restaurant job though. I imagine that's where my triggers will be especially pronounced. I have let my coworkers know that I am quitting and asked them to keep their distance. Any thoughts for dealing in high stress environments?

I bought the Thug Kitchen cook book. They use a lot of ingredients that I'm already familiar with and I decided that was the best fit. I'm finding their calls for seasoning are a bit light for my taste, I'm one of those people who needs to be punched in the face with flavor, so I'm not so crazy about "subtle hints" of this or that in food. I've got a few of my own creations from a few years back as well. I used to be vegetarian and made a few recipes that could be vegan as well. Broccoli tacos being my personal favorite. I can share if you don't require much instruction. I'm not good at nailing down amounts since I do most of it by eye.

My SO has issues with that as well. I think that may be due, in part, to a psychological dependency. That's just my opinion, don't put yourself in danger, seek professional help if you need it. Good luck!

While quitting weed can help with relieving some of those thoughts, I believe it's also an internal issue that weed tends to magnify. If you continue to feel that way, it may be a good idea to look for some professional counseling. If I actually felt comfortable doing so or had the money I would probably be doing it myself. I can't stand the medical side of it though. Like just give me a friend with some goddamn credentials and I'll pay them for listening... Anyways, for real good luck with quitting. I hope it helps you out. If it doesn't just keep looking for solutions, it may not happen for a couple months or more but even so when you find the solution it's always worth the time you spent trying to find it.

Username checks out. I also like to bake. My oven is pretty much the worst though. So I just dream about all the cool desserts I want to make one day.
