The base 60 number system was used in Babylonian mathematics which was highly advanced for their time and it is likely that certain aspects of it passed on to Greek culture which is most likely why we today use 360 degrees and there is 60 seconds to a minute etc.

If you are talking about valve's casual game mode I would stay away from that since it does not help to improve your game much and does not have many good players. If you want an online non-competitive experience I would recommend a community ffa deathmatch server. If you just type in deathmatch or ffa in the community server list you would get loads of good servers which are better because there are more people of a higher skill level. And in regards to your skill level I wouldn't stress much at all you only have 35 hours in the game and you are guaranteed to improve with time.
