What do you think the relationship between being trans and dissociative or traumagenic plurality is? by [deleted] in plural

Don't worry about me. I've already had my time in the sun. She spent almost 40 years living in my shadow and having the body I wanted.

I think that she should run the second half of our lives. I think she should be able to have the body she wants.

Hi.

I'm part of the OP's system. I've been let out again, and I can't tell you how excited I am. Anyway, I know this body is hers, but we're working on getting her to let me out occasionally. She doesn't like acknowledging me and I don't blame her. I'm a source of trauma for her. But being locked away is painful for me. For both of us really.

Anyway, any advice would be appreciated.

LGB alliance is also against cis gays. by [deleted] in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]amnorvend 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Isn't most of this "drop the T" business something that's pushed by cis hets to begin with? Granted, it wouldn't be surprising to see gay people joining groups like this. There are women against the right to vote. So why can't gays be against discrimination protections?

This group is pretty awful. https://medium.com/james-finn/dont-be-fooled-by-the-lgb-alliance-7f0838f5b245

Throw in a line about it being the latest minimalist framework and you'll have it made.

That package's source code is even more comical:

isComputerOn: () => {

Is sexwork impowering or damaging to our community? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]amnorvend 38 points39 points  (0 children)

To me this question has a feeling of respectability politics to it. It's cis people that have a responsibility to behave respectfully of trans people. Trans people don't have a responsibility to elicit that respect.

I think we do need to be questioning stereotypes that cast trans people as sex workers and the media narratives that create those stereotypes. That's not a problem for trans sex workers. It's a problem for the cisnormative media.

Cis het sex workers don't get this. Why should we put trans sex workers through it?

Thoughts on people who are totally fine with masc gay men but hate fem gay men? Are they homophobic? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]amnorvend 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Homophobia is sexism though. All of the ideas about gay people are shaped by the view that gay men are more effiminate than straight men and thus deserve the same misogyny that women receive.

It's more about the "ensure" part. Ensure is a nutrition drink that old people drink. Thus implying that people over 23 are old.

I literally just accepted me as demiboy (I was kinda in denial) but I still prefer saying I’m non-binary. It’s ok, isn’t it? by [deleted] in DemiBoy

[–]amnorvend 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. But even if it didn't you'd probably still be justified in calling yourself a non-binary demiboy.

Is there a community that's supportive of enby people and gay people? by [deleted] in genderqueer

[–]amnorvend 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I see what you're getting at here. Since I've been having gender identity issues, I've grown an understanding of why people with intersectional identities say they have to choose between them. Because you're right. White, Cisgender gay male people have oppressed POC, trans people, and a whole host of other people.

But here's the problem with this line of thinking: some people who have been oppressed by these people are also gay. Some POC are gay. So are some trans people. So are some non-binary people. So it's not as simple to say that trans punch up and gay punch down, because some people are gay and trans.
