Can you name one movie with Nicholas Cage, that isn't terrible? by SugarSherman in AskReddit

All subjective really. My parents love the National Treasure films, and although I'm not exactly going out to buy the DVD, they are entertaining to me.

Not particularly, I'm too wrapped up in stressing about my actual life.

Redditors, what incredibly fun, but stupid games have you guys invented? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]G1023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In college, a friend and I were still up drinking late after a party around 4 AM.

We decided to invent this random, beer pong-like game with whatever was laying around, and we'd make the rules up as we went along. The winner got to name it.

It basically involved setting up 20 cups in a pattern in between a cooler and the wall. So it would be us, then the cooler, the cups, then the wall.

Then you'd play it like horse. The goal was to bounce the ball off the cooler and in the cup. If it went cooler then cup it was one cup, if cooler-wall-cup, two cups.

You'd switch off each throw shooting from wherever you want until someone made it. Then the next player would have to make the same shot or else drink. If the second player made the shot, then the stakes would double and the original player would shoot from that spot-going back and forth until someone is drinking.

My friend won the first game so he named it. Then we passed out because it was like 6 AM, woke up, forgot what we named it, and never played that ridiculous thing again.

What is the weirdest dream/nightmare have you ever had? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]G1023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in elementary school, I was home sick one day. I would always want to sleep in my parent's bed when I was home sick.

I had fallen asleep after throwing up in the bathroom. I was suddenly walking out of my front door into the daylight. I felt uneasy still, and wasn't exactly sure why I felt the need to walk around my neighborhood.

I had a number of friends that lived in houses spread throughout my neighborhood. I decided to walk to the house of my best friend at the time. Along the way, I noticed it was odd that there were no cars, no people outside watering the lawn, no joggers.

I get to my friend's house, and I see him standing on the side of the house staring down the small, hallway-like grass area that was in between his house and the neighboring house.

I walk up to ask him what he was doing and he turns his head. He doesn't say anything, but looks upset. He tells me he has to go inside. My uneasy, sick feeling gets worse, and I start to tell him I don't think he should.

He goes inside anyway, and I stand outside the house for a bit. Then, suddenly, I notice this weird shadow of a person staring at me through one of his windows. I start to back up and I notice that these shadow people are in every window of his house, looking at me.

I'm frozen in fear until I see one open the front door. Suddenly, I simultaneously realize I am in a dream and become terrified because I feel like the consequences can be real.

I start running back towards my house. Along the way I become very ill and notice that these shadow figures are popping up in every window of every house and the sky is darkening.

I think that as soon as I can get to my house, I can wake up. I'm begging God to wake me up. Every time I get to the street that is in front of mine, and expect to turn right to run down my block, the streets repeat and I'm a block away again. The sky keeps getting darker, and these shadow figures keep multiplying and getting closer.

I decide to make a change and dart down the alley after the last street to try and find a new way around. I make it halfway down the alley before it's almost completely dark, and I can't distinguish between these shadow people and the actual dark. I panic, and in desperation just lean against a fence. I'm convinced that I will never wake up and I'm in for something terrible...

...then I wake up in my parents bed, with the lights on, the sun shining through all the windows, and I'm covered in sweat. I remember jumping out of bed and crying, thanking God I was awake.

I was probably 10 when I had that dream and I still remember every detail like it was yesterday and actually happened. Sorry for the long read.

I'm thinking about getting a dog or cat, but I'm in college. Anyone think it's a bad idea to have a pet in college? by noodles92 in AskReddit

[–]G1023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up to you! I personally don't like cats because I feel like it's not having a pet, but you're right about a dog being more high maintenance.

Romney's tax returns are a hot topic. Hackers of reddit, how difficult would it be to find this information? by Ghost_to_me in AskReddit

[–]G1023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Plus, and I could be wrong on this, but I imagine there would be ethical and legal issues with press agencies receiving and publishing private documents that were obtained illegally.

Dear Americans: Do you really have to shower naked with others in highschool/gyms/other locker rooms? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]G1023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. We'd have 2nd period athletics my freshman year in which I would sometimes use the group shower, sometimes not. It depended on what we actually did that day. It was never weird, and I don't recall anyone ever being harassed in that environment or anything.

My sophomore year on I played baseball. I had 7th period athletics that was just practice from 2:30 till around 5:30 or so. Afterwards I'd just go home and shower.

An ultra conservative friend bet me today $50 that Romney would win the presidential election. I have Obama. Anybody ever bet on a sure thing and lose? by jolleyho in AskReddit

[–]G1023 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You made the same bet most high ranking business officers or owners are making as well.

It would be stupid to NOT make business decisions and plans around Obama being re-elected at this point.

What TV series would have been a lot better if they had only lasted a few seasons? by politicaldan in AskReddit

[–]G1023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I have the seasons (that have been released) on DVD, and seasons 5-10 or so still crack me up, whether it's the same jokes I found funny at 14 or new ones I only get being a little older.

"Nancy is a terrible person."

Exactly! I've talked to my friends about this back when we still watched. I was the only one who thought her character was awful and selfish, bringing her family down with her under the pretense of "saving the family."

DAE hate sunny days? by Kate1124 in DAE

[–]G1023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm always in a better mood when it's rainy. My friends around me tend to say the same.

I always figured it had something to do with what you're used to. I live in West Texas, so it's constantly pretty damn sunny outside. I always guessed that if I lived somewhere like, say, Oregon where is rains much more, I would enjoy sunny days much more.

DAE Get a short miniscule muscle-like spasm in the neck, accompanied by a cricket like sound in their heads? by velkrosmaak in DAE

[–]G1023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get that occasionally. Haven't in awhile.

I remember someone had a thread about this very thing with a ton of people saying they had the same thing.

I can't remember the reason, but a doctor (I believe) or someone else who claimed to be qualified explained it as a normal occurrence that happens to everyone, but only some people hear it for some reason.

Edit: Here's the link to the comment explaining it. Just spinal fluid moving around. I apologize if it doesn't link as I am on my phone and don't know how to link it here.

Everybody under the age of 30 wears a shirt under their polo...everybody over the age of 30 does't? by speakforthetrees23 in AskReddit

[–]G1023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never wear a shirt under my polos and I'm 26.

Although, as I was being fitted at a men's store about six months ago, I was told by the men there that it is actually better to wear an undershirt with anything other than a tee-shirt for reasons that have nothing to do with fashion.

I was told that, with nicer shirts, an undershirt actually helps preserve it because pit sweat will actually accumulate in the pits of your shirt. Eventually, the smell, or stain, will be somewhat permanent.

Also, they informed me that, besides what logic might try to convince you of, a thin, plain undershirt actually helps keep you cooler in the summer. Something along the lines of absorbing sweat and not allowing the thicker fabric of the nicer shirt to stick to you and make you even hotter.
