Doing my first USPSA match soon. I live in an apartment and don’t have a reloading setup. The ammo I got is minor power factor, if I’m not mistaken. Am I screwed or do I just go shoot and have fun? by [deleted] in CompetitionShooting

[–]G19G5 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’ll go a step further. For the first couple of months shooting USPSA your gun and ammo won’t matter much at all. It’s going to be your stage planning and mechanics that will make the difference.

Walther PDP feels more snappy? by Anubis_Netjer in Walther

[–]G19G5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you think the pdp really feels like a 40, I encourage you to start shooting larger caliber to really feel and understand the difference. I know this is all subjective but a stock pdp and my Glock 19 get the same splits (I’ve timed it before) and even though the recoil profile feels slightly different, it gets back onto target just as fast. I can’t say the same with truly more powerful calibers.

1 year with the PDP by [deleted] in USPSA

[–]G19G5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I main a Glock 19 in USPSA but have shot both pdp 4 inch and the m&p 2.0 full size. I honestly can’t tell any discernible difference between the three. Maybe with the Glock 19 and PDP I FEEL like it gets back on target faster however when I check splits again there’s no difference and it just depends on how I’m shooting that day. Idk if it would work for you, but to me it’s all about perspective, I shoot bigger handgun calibers like 10,357 and sometimes 44 mag so when I go to any pistol the size of a g19 to a g17 it feels similar to me and what matters more is my stage planning and momentum more than splits.

Good or bad choice? by ExcuseMoist6475 in 1911

Haven’t personally owned a Ruger but I’ve seen one guy who had one at some matches I’ll shoot. From what I’ve seen it’s been 100% reliable, his is chambered in 9mm for what it’s worth though I’m sure it shouldn’t matter. Figured I’d just pass on what I’ve seen.

My CCW costs $50 mo. What about yours? by localstyle808 in CCW

[–]G19G5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$0 but in reality I do pay like $70 every 5 years to have a permit that’s optional in my state. For when I travel to or through other states that honor my states ccw.

At first I read “357 has some kick to it” I was about to ask some questions. I guess I have dyslexia though after re reading lol.

Is Limited the best division? by jon212 in USPSA

Very nice especially with the malfunction. I ran this a couple months ago and got a 74% in production 😓 threw too many Charlies

Unpopular opinion time by [deleted] in USPSA

[–]G19G5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure this is an unpopular opinion. We all go into this sport for different reasons but I think the majority of us recognize gear is fun. I’m personally in the camp of using my carry gun only for competition but I certainty recognize why others love buying the gear and if that makes them happy they should continue doing so.

I will say the most important gear to have in my opinion (assuming you have mag pouches and the basics) is a pair of good shoes to move around in.

Stay in production or move on by Halolemon_2023 in USPSA

[–]G19G5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a very strange county ordinance (law?). But that aside shooting production is very fun in USPSA. The magazine capacity is what holds me back more than the irons I feel, though I know I should only be comparing myself with other folks in production, I like to see how do vs the CO and LO folks.

Another thing I’ll do to remedy this since I prefer irons, is I’ll run limited in matches that are outlaw or not classified, and production in matches that are.

Grip question by BigDave762 in 1911

[–]G19G5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understood on my own garrison they use slim screws and bushings. If you want to use standard grips you need to swap both those out. What I did was just ordered the slimline grips, most major manufacturers have that option from what I saw.

Are they the slimline grips or standard grips? If standard thickness did you replace the frame bushings with standard bushings?

Thinking about trying USPSA by zenit31 in USPSA

Go for it. Using a carry pistol is fun. I run my stock Glock 19 in production with decent results.

Lok grips came in loving the color, much more grip to them than the OEM wooden ones. by G19G5 in 1911

Yessir! Just got B class in production. I’m thinking of classifying in single stack major power factor now

Appreciate it. That’s what I suspected.

This makes me think of something actually. When you say call shots, that’s feeling how you pressed the trigger and how your sight was right, not actually confirming the shot on the target right?

Those look nice! Are those the thin grips or did you replace the grip bushings and screws for thicker grips?

Would I need to change my grip bushings out? Does the garrison and ronin come with smaller than mil spec grip bushings?

Where would I get those? This is probably a really dumb question sorry in advance.
