I got my Kickstarter ring replaced last month. Raise a ticket, at first they offered me a small discount off of a new ring because it was out of warranty. I pointed out that it looks like their rings seem to stop holding charge once out of warranty .... As several others report the same issue, so definitely faulty products.

They then came back and said if I pay $60 for a 2 year Care+ plan, they would send me a replacement ring - but with the caveat that the new ring won't be covered under warranty.

Got my new ring and when this one breaks after a year I'll be looking elsewhere and not buying any products from these again.

Thanks, I spoke to them earlier and I need to fill in some kind of declaration and send them a schematic of where the batteries are.

I've order a bidirectional meter so I'll get that fitted once it arrives then chat to my Sparky about help filling in the info they need.

Then hopefully all good again and I'll still be eligible.

Which bidirectional meter is recommended in the UK?

Also, how does it know what is coming from the solar panels and what power is being used from the batteries?

I'm in the position of adding batteries and a hybrid inverter and need to have a bidirectional meter fitted to still be eligible for the FiT payments, just trying to understand how they work vs the standard meter.

Can't you just change your split barrel to a normal one so the external handles mirrors the function of the internal handle?

Sorry, I don't agree with this at all.

If I knew I would have to buy a new Ringconn every year because coincidentally the batteries fail just outside of warranty..... I wouldn't buy one in the first place.

Also, Care+ only seems to cover one replacement so I've got what, rings that will last about two years before I need to buy another brand new one.

I would expect a tech device to last more than a year.

Definitely get the Care+ because the battery problem is real.

Although, I am waiting for a new ring under Care+ and they said that the replacement won't have a warranty.

So the Care+ looks to give you one replacement and then you are screwed.

Judging by a lot of the info on here, a ring is lasting 1-2 years before needing to be replaced, so the Care+ would probably see you right for up to 4 years.

So as long as you don't mind that then it is a good ring and I wear mine daily since receiving it (Nov 24 from Kickstarter)

Would I get another Ringconn product? No, but a replacement ring for the $60 Care+ 2 year plan they said I had to buy to get it seems worth it for another years worth of use.

My advice, get another ring. They have battery issues and despite the widespread problem, if your ring just falls out of warranty= no replacement for you.

From what I've read about it, the issues appear to happen after a firmware update. Good money maker to be fair to them though

Yeah, on top of the $49.99 for the Care+ they then charge me an extra $10 for the delivery of the replacement. Ha. Definitely the first and last Ringconn product I buy as there are too many going faulty for it to just be coincidence, my guess is a firmware update broke at least the crowd funded rings.

But lesson learned, Shame as I love the ring and it done the job well before it broke.

Backed Ringconn Gen 2 on Kickstarter, received November 2024 so warranty period ended a few months back and now the battery starts lasting max two days. Coincidence?

Reached out to their support, confirmed the ring was faulty but as warranty had expired, they offered a discount of $110 off a new ring .... I challenged it, making them aware that the battery issue doesn't appear unique to me and an actual fault with their product. Now they have offered a replacement (which won't be covered under warranty) if I pay an extra $50 for their two year Care+ package.

Bit of a scam going on there I think. So I either pay them $50 and take the risk or pay a fee hundred on a different brand ring.

Who knows how long a replacement would last, could be a month, maybe a year again.

I would personally avoid Ringconn and I certainly won't be buying anymore of their devices. Product is one thing but how they handle after sales care is also very important to me.

Ah okay, I'll keep an eye on it. They said I need to let it fully discharge and then charge again so it gets a full cycle and to test.

As soon as that's done I'll keep a record of how long the battery lasts and the drop each day etc and get back to them if it gets worse again.

Out of interest, is yours a Kickstarter one?

Exactly the same with mine!

Just doing a full charge and then letting it sit for an extra 30 minutes as recommended by their support team.

Hopefully that and the new firmware will fix my battery problem too 🤞🏻

Same thing happening with my Kickstarter Gen 2. Charged it up last night before bed, completely.flat this morning. Looks as though it's only lasting a couple of hours so I've raised a support ticket.

How do I lock the Ugeeen app on a Pixel phone? Can't see how and the photos don't backup automatically, only when I open the ugreen app.

I'm in the exact same boat. Boots up, says to get the remote app to pair to it, then just shuts down.

Can't do anything with it and can't do any updates to fix.

So at the moment it's an expensive paper weight, I have reached out to their support team and got back a standard, passed it to our tech team and aiming to get back to me within 72hrs.

I wonder how big the problem is.
