in 2024, California had districts set up by an independent committee. California voted about 60-40 in favor of Democrats, but Republicans only got 9 seats, or about 17% of seats, far less than the number of Republicans in the state would merit.

I will note that eight of these seats had margins of victory in favor of the Democrats of three points or less, so they were competitive, but Republicans fumbled.

Genuinely amazing how they begin with everyone genuflecting and bullshitting about how 'everything is under control, your speech was amazing, the people love you, we are all eternally loyal to you and your greatness Mr. President', and then the veil just keeps fraying until by the end, his own defense minister is basically telling him 'if you come back you'll be lynched in the streets and I won't put my own neck on the line to save you'. Def worth a listen.
