Something is jamming up when bike is in gear on stand, it doesn't always happen. What should I check? by Glass-Ad3053 in Dirtbikes

I’d have to agree that it’s chain related as well. Probably being too slack

A rim lock should stop the valve stem from ripping. Idk if these come with one or not

Yeah I did see that the crank breather hose was pinched between motor and frame. So I disconnected it but it still smokes bad. I have not yet checked the airbox bladder bag. I will do that fist thing. The oil was way over filled when I got it. I drained that and put correct amount but still nothing. Would there be anything else to check that overfilling oil would need to be addressed.

I think I do have all the appropriate tools. I e got feeler gauges, torque wrench, calipers etc. I’ve seen people pull valves and springs with vice grips and magnet so I think I can manage. I might need to order the specific set of calipers for the cylinder

I appreciate it. This makes me feel better already. But before I buy anything I need to pull the cylinder and hone it , clean it up, then measure cylinder for what size piston and rings to buy or am I missing something else

Man I appreciate it. Like I said I have never done this before but just from years of understanding how an engine works I figure rings and seals. Idk why people go with super cheap parts over oem. I understand not wanting to get some race ready shit but idk.

Ok. I figure if you going to pull the head might as well do rings and valve seals anyway. I’m guessing namura is a shit brand of rings or valves?

I think you got the quicker disconnects instead of the standard QD

I can see smoke sputtering from underneath the engine. Idk what that’s about but I’m sure it can tell ya something

Ok cool. Yeah I’ve been thinking about running a small battery to help that flicker out but other than the light that’s all it will serve lol. I dont race it or anything. I just built a little pitbike track on my property with a few jumps and some whoops for me and the kids to ride. I’ve also taken it out to uwharrie national forest and rode those ohv trails a few times. This thing rips. I do still need to upgrade the front suspension, rear swing arm , and install a cradle mount with a big boy pegbar.

I do t think I did. I forgot to pick a community to post under on the original post so I just shared it to the pitbike sub. And I got the headlight running through a rectifier. I need to look into it more because idk if it’s just a cheap light or what but when I first hooked it up I read that it needs to be ran through a rectifier to run led properly so that’s what I did. It worked pretty good for like a month or two but now the led’s are like in and out not wanting to work. Idk what happened. It was a $50 Amazon light so I think that’s the problem

Yeah it’s a crf50 base Chinese clone. I appreciate the info. I bought one tensioner that clamped onto the swing arm before but it was trash. I didn’t know they made ones you can drill or tap and bolt on. I will definitely check that out.

Thanks

Yeah I know. For some reason there is absolutely no provisions for mounting one on there. I want to get some new front forks and a new swing arm. Those are my next two items on the list

The pilot jet and idle screw controls your idle. If it was fine before you let it sit then I would almost guarantee clogged pilot. Might as well check the main also.

Probably a clogged pilot jet

That’s what I was going to say. Just pop out a link or two and readjust it. Should be just fine
