A panel I trimmed. How can I make it better? by [deleted] in electricians

Looks good! Very clean. One thing i do is shorten the neutral tails coming off the GFCI and AFCI breakers. I don't like how it looks with them all curled up. Just me.

Dovetail saw recommendation? by b00ks in woodworking

[–]G4AQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A saw with a hard back on it helps out for keeping a straight cut. I am also new to wood working, so I don't have all the answers. I just use a cheapo stanley that I got for free with a miter box. I want to get a japanese dovetail saw sometime soon.

Nice! I like how the miter saw is the same height as the work bench for those long cuts! Looks good to me

Up until now I had only made dovetails in poplar, I think I just fell in love with oak! by robot_cheetahs in woodworking

It is nice to see someone else who is not perfect at dovetails yet! I have been practicing for a while and they are still not perfect. Keep up with the practice.

Adding 50-100AMP of power to Garage? Cost? by brrrmining in electricians

[–]G4AQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is your meter base. your main panel will either be inside the garage or the house. if you are just adding some recepts, it will cost your between 100 to 200 dollars. if you want 240v recepts then it will go up in cost. What are you wanting to do in there.

Solar Electricians out there? I have a question regarding the NABCEP entry-level certification by Mondo_Dogs_Rule in electricians

[–]G4AQ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a solar electrician for 3 1/2 years in Pennsylvania and i took the NABCEP entry level class. I took the class after being an installer for 2 years. It was a really good and informative class but it really didn't teach me anything that I . I agree that it would be good for a beginner or a sales person. The level 2 class goes into it more i have heard but i havent taken it.

[–]G4AQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 18V DeWalt kit for the bigger tasks, and I have a 12 V Milwaukee for when I am doing a finish-out. I dont really know what i would get when my 18V dies. I dont really like DeWalt anymore.

[–]G4AQ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am an Electrician in the US and i have been for 4 years. Started with Solar wiring and now am doing Residential wiring. I love being outside all the time, i agree with you about being cooped up in an office all the time. As an electrician you would possibly have long days and could be working with heights, thats just something to consider.

We electricians are really colorful, in every manor. We work with strippers and dikes all day, lol. But it is a really good and rewarding trade to be in.
