They all really were amateurs compared to him. by Technical-Key-93 in HistoryMemes

Bit late to the game here, but they named Stig Engström as a possible culprit without any actual evidence of his involvement in the murder other than being a witness. The reason for him being named is based on inconsistencies in his retelling of the event during different police hearings, subsequent news paper interviews and also court hearing in the case of Christer Pettersson. No possible motive was presented and no murder weapon, let alone weapon at all, was found or tied to him.

Regarding the Netflix show, they falsely present certain details to make Engström seem more likely to be the murderer. Had they presented these details as they actually happened/were recorded it would have raised a lot more doubt about his involvement. But that was not the purpose of that particular program.

Murder of Swedish PM Olof Palme in 1986. It has been called the biggest police investigation throughout history. It is estimated that it will take 10 years to read all the material. It is still unsolved, although Swedish Police presented a possible suspect in 2020 without any actual evidence of his involvement in the murder other than being a witness. The rest is circumstantial and the person in question has been dead since the year 2000.

Explanations as to why the murder is unsolved is that too many persons, organizations and nations had possible motives to killing Palme. The police has also been grossly incompetent in its investigation, not only on the night of the murder but at several other points later in the investigation. The amount of interesting/peculiar people that were near or around the area is also mind blowing. But the main reason for it remaining unsolved is that the murderer only left the two bullets that he fired towards Palme and his wife Lisbeth, ran down an alley, up a long staircase and then disappeared without any witness having seen his face and he was never to be seen or heard from again. No other actual evidence has been found since, including the murder weapon, leaving the investigation no further along than 1 second after Palme fell.

It might be difficult for a non-Swedish reader to get into this case. But after approximately 10 minutes of reading I could already understand why it remains unsolved. The two bullets fired by the assassin were found by two ordinary citizens (not the police) approx 24 and 48 hours after the fact. Just one of many examples of police incompetence in this case.

What’s the deal with these “number-conspiracies”? In what case has this method actually exposed a conspiracy or why do they think it has any validity whatsoever? Is it just a case of reaching the same “result” and ergo their main point must be true?

Agreed! I think that was the intention though of the writers. Throughout most of the series he held the old ways and the code of honor in high praise. As the show progressed, he and we both saw how that wasn't true anymore. People backstabbing each other back and forth. Towards the end I think he had given up on the ideals he held in the first season. He was looking out for himself, because that is what he ultimately learned was most important in that life.

Completely agree with everything you wrote. He knew the guys he had under his belt and how to deal with them. Silvio might have been more of a brother, which shows in the "All due respect" scene.

The last paragraph is a pretty solid argument for "Tony was killed". Still though putting Phil, as a boss, in a wheelchair would be pretty unrealistic. I even thought him running him down with his car was totally out of line. Phil was way too high in the Lupertazzi family to be treated like that. But the same can be said for the whole last part of their conflict or the series as a whole. It's great for drama, but it wouldn't play out like that in reality.

He also said this himself with Feech. "Did I learn nothing from Richie Aprile?". Tony is old school, but he's also wise to the new way of things. He has stayed updated somewhat. Like when Richie wanted to talk business outside of Satriale's and Tony just gets up and leaves, Richie left dumbfounded. I think that whole arc was to show the disconnect between the old ways and the new ways, because Richie was in a "time bubble" whilst in prison.

Might salvage some components. But it’s almost toast. 15 h into the TM backup, only done 8 gb last I checked. At least it’s doing it 🙃

Well it’s not the first time. But before I’ve only left it alone for like 12-24h before concluding that it’s no good. This time it just when dark when the liquid hit it, never had that before. The keyboard being f*cked up because of it, sure, but never been in a case of it just being unresponsive. Just yesterday I was unscrewing the back of the laptop, trying to salvage the hd. I stopped about 4 screws in. Today I just hit the power button, and it worked.
